" YOU'VE SIGNED HIM/ SO WHY NOT PLAY HIM? "

' Emyr Huws '

In many ways, this was a statement signing for the Bluebirds,But then Trollope why did you Huws if your not going to start him?

Young, Welsh, with a dash of star quality and plenty of room to improve, this should have embodied the new 'Bluebirds Way'.

Of course, it still could. Huws has a long career ahead of him and there's every reason to hope that he can go on to be a major success.

For now, it's a strange picture as he struggles for any meaningful first-team action.

Part of it can reasonably be put down to fitness concerns; the midfielder didn't have much of a pre-season at Wigan with a few niggles and a move always likely.

He has featured for Wales however and started that ignominious defeat to Preston.

Cardiff fans will hope to see more of him in the coming weeks.
Huddersfield supporters were desperate to see him make a permanent switch in the summer and his creative skills could take a lot of the burden off Peter Whittingham, on whom the Bluebirds are overly reliant to cut open defences.

With that ability to dart past a man and shoot from long range, he could add much needed variety.

I do find this very puzzling.

Why would you buy a player and then only strat him in one game and hardly give him any time as a sub :?

OK, he was poor when he started against Preston but so was everyone else so surely that can't decide his season. I haven't seen him enough to judge whether he has something to offer but at a time where we are so predictable can he be any worse than Ralls, Gunnarrsson, Noone, Immers, etc. ?

In his short appearance as a sub for Wales against Moldova he did look quite neat, able to pass the ball and also getting into the box which is something that is sadly lacking.

Agreed.

I could understand Huws not being selected if our midfield players are playing out of their skin and,so not changing a winning team, but we're nearly bottom of the table and playing terribly. Give the guy a chance and if he's as bad as the rest, then fair enough, don't pick him.

Trollope probably didn't sign him. I doubt he signed any of our players.

Like many keep saying he's just a 'coach'and that's it. End of the day we didn't really need a cm. We should have spent the money on a striker but the three blind mice were desperate to bring welsh players in.

This has indeed been one of the mysteries of the season so far.

Huws has had only one half of football and a few very brief sub appearances.

He was shocking in his one half (Preston?) but others have been shocking game after game and continue to be shocking.

Huws should be given a run in the team to give him the chance to show what he can do. We can't do much worse with him in the team can we?

A 23 year old who has played 60 championship games scoring a massive 7 goals should be ahead of 450 and 80 goals Whitts because he was born in Llanelli

Actually neither of them would be in my team
4231
Is the formation that best suits our squad
Amos
Peltier Morrison ajayi Bennett
Ralls okeefe
Harris pilks Kennedy
Lambert
Would be my preferred starting line up
This team would have more pace and energy than any team we have started so far this season

If your goods enough your old enough IMO

My point is we don't know if he is good enough though.

How many premier league starlets end up in leagues 1 or 2. Kelvin Ethu was a citeh kid found his level at Bury. Harris & Kennedy have not proved they are championship class either.

I agree with getting Pilks closer to lambert, and i'd drop the whole idea of real wingers (as did Malky) Whitts or Ralls probably Whitts out left even with his lack of pace with Immers on the right in a good ole fashioned 442.

I will never understand how anyone would seriously suggest taking Whitts out of our team BEFORE, Ralls, Immers and Noone.

Right now Whitts has only 1 unsuccessful touch recorded against him and has been dispossessed just 3 times, That places him as the 2nd best player in the Championship, not our club, the Championship. Compare that to Noone 11/20. Immers 10/10 and Ralls 9/6.

When you take into account the FACT that Whitts has made more passes, 532, than any other city player with a pass completion rate of 83%, you get a feel for his value in this team. Compare that to Noone 109/58%, Immers 280/77%, Ralls 470/79%. In fact only 1 player can live with Whitts in respect of passing accuracy this season and that's O'Keefe with 137/85%.

But without doubts Whitts biggest contribution comes in the form of Key Passes with reult in goal scoring opportunities. So far this season he has made 34 key passes, again making him the 2nd best player in the Championship, at our club the next best player Pilkington with 8. Noone has just 3, Ralls just 5 and Immers 7.

You don't have to run around like a headless chicken to make an impact and the FACTS show Whitts is still our most effective midfield player and, by a huge margin.

What a great post.
I would also add that besides the stats anyone with an ounce of football knowledge can see with their own eyes how good Whittingham is and the class he has.
But we are talking about trueblue here who again proves his naivety in football matters.

Fantastic post about Whitts is still a class player at this level.

Whitts has created more chances than virtually anyone else in the Championship this season. Considering we can hardly buy a goal at the moment even the Whitts haters would struggle to make the case for him to be dropped before the others I mention

He was dropped for the first half against Norwich and Preston ............. no big team improvement there that I noticed

He ain't pulling up any trees this season but he's nowhere near as out of form as the others I mention.

Let's hope a change of manager does the trick for everyone
