What is utterly depressing is no I didn't expect us to win. Hoped we might scrape something but no. That has got to be the most depressing performance I have seen at the ccs. Trollope really does have to take the blame because a) picks Noone and Ralls who are both devoid of any confidence plus lack pace b) Doesn't press high up the pitch to compensate for our appaling lack of pace therefore giving Derby the freedom of the park c) Somehow decides that Zahore is the best option on the bench if Lambert is injured d) yet again the team produces a home display of such utter negativity that how they expect to win fans back I don't know.
Why the hell the club thought that appointing a coach who was a huge part of the pretty poor standard of football last year under Slade would be a good idea. I have no idea what the tactics are and how they imagine that they can create chances by playing such a slow, methodical style of football lacking in pace, invention or even aggression. They are shockingly bad with the ball but appalling without it. The club were flattered by the 8th place last year and needed a clean sweep of first team coaches etc, to kick start a new era and to have any chance of improvement. All we are getting is the same old rubbish without Slades plus points which were defensive organisation and an ability to score from set pieces/corners. Plus I believe there was a team spirit and willingness to fight last year for Slade which they don't have any more. I wasn't anti-Slade but believed he took us as far as he could and the time was right for a change. This isn't a change this is just Slade-Lite football.
Utterly despondent tonight.
