Why Cardiff still shouldn’t panic despite shocking start

By Jamie Kemble

Tuesday 20th September 2016

The Bluebirds have endured a terrible start to the season with just one win in eight games but there’s no need to panic just yet.

Cardiff’s shocking start to the season has ensured they sit the bottom of the Championship table with eight games played and Head Coach Paul Trollope has come under intense scrutiny as a result. Despite the Bluebirds’ shaky opening, there’s still no need to batten down the hatches for a relegation fight, after-all, there are still 114 points still up for grabs.

Make no mistake, this league takes no prisoners and Cardiff aren’t too big or too good to be relegated, or to be involved in a relegation scrap, but despite the team looking very poor thus far, I believe they’ll finish nowhere near the bottom three.

I have to admit, I’m not feeling overly optimistic about this season after seeing the way Paul Trollope’s men have performed in the opening eight. The best the Bluebirds’ have played was away to Birmingham in the opening day of the season and even in the one win they did get, they looked rather poor.

It may be difficult to find the positives currently but Cardiff have a very decent squad, I’m not saying it’s good enough to win the league, but it’s a squad which contains some very good players.

I won’t cast judgement on whether Paul Trollope is the man to get the best out of those players but over the course of the season, I think they’ll steer comfortably clear of the drop.

Barring the last 30 minutes, Cardiff played some attractive stuff against Leeds and there were positives to take as Trollope re-installed the 4-5-1 formation.

The Bluebirds travel to strugglers Rotherham on Saturday and I don’t think I’d be far wrong if I suggested Paul Trollope may have to win to save his job. Cardiff have been poor away from home for the last couple of years but they need to make a statement on Saturday to save their boss and to start the recovery of their season.

I still believe it’s far too early to panic but we will be a quarter through the season in just a few games and by then, Cardiff need to be away from the foot of the table.

This squad has the potential to achieve and while their not too good to find themselves in League One next season, it would be a mammoth failure to do so, a real low for the club and Cardiff can’t afford another one of those.

Can't see anything in that article to suggest why we shouldn't panic!

So we've got some decent players - well, they've not been performing so far this season so what's to suggest that things are going to change?

We will be in the bottom 3 come January!

He will return, Saadi and score 15 goals plus and come
July will be sold for over 2.5m simples.

Reading Kembles article I'm reminded of What Jim Bowie said to Davy Crockett at the Alamo "we can win this Davy"

Nooooooo ha ha

Trust me I hope we are not in the bottom 3 come
January but the club from top to bottom don't feel right and it's affecting the players!

It would be a fairy tale if Saadi did come back and scored enough goals to keep us up!! Now what would that say about the management sending him off on loan Hmm!

Be like playing Harris at right back when we needed pace up front
