He turned down a new contract at Burnley so if he were to come available there would be better options than a struggling championship club.

Barton went to the Euros rather than put in a pre season, he underestimated the Scottish League (it's shite but not as shite as he believed it would be) he has constantly been caught in possession and had zero positive impact on the team. If rumours are to be believed he's also been disruptive in the dressing room. If he ends up at the City I hope it's the Barton who played for Burnley not the one who played, or rather didn't, for Rangers who turns up.
