Bumped my car!

My first ever bump (that was my fault today hands upto that). 
Reversing out of Halfrauds (desperately needed an inner tube!) car park and dinked this blokes car. Im an honest bloke so got out to see if he was about. He was a young lad about 19 in the car having a fag! I apologised saying I wasnt paying attention and didnt notice he had pulled up behind me.
Its my mrs car which I was driving as she had had a minor operation and both cars had very minor superficial damage. I put a 3 inch split in the corner of his bumper and scuffed it a bit. I said if he wants any money for repairs to call me and I would sort him out. He said it was his grampies car and it had marks all over it so not to worry. I gave him my number and plate number and said get in touch if its a problem.
If someone scuffed your car in a carpark would you let it go or try to squeeze a few quid out of them? To be fair I think if its an old car and they are sorry its probably not worth the hassle. If you feel its going to cost you when you sell it I supose its fair enough really. Some people will take it to a garage and make you pay through the nose but I dont think it will bring you any luck! There are some decent people out there and sometimes putting your hands up is enough.
