" Rather be Blue in League Two "

Mon Sep 19, 2016 10:39 am

Come on. Own up.

How many of you said this are now crying because we are having a difficult time in the Championship?

How many crying when Tan was getting us furthetr in debt are now crying cos he wont put his hand in his pocket anymore?

Any takers?

Chris,
I stand by it and would rather have been in Blue and in Division Two(Old 4th Division) than go through what we have under Tan :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

I watched City for 9 years in Division 4 and never missed a game home or away and our fans were small in number but together/united and a bond with our players etc :bluebird: :bluebird:

I wouldn't say I'm having the time of my life watching the city right now but it's still 10 times better than the 3 years we had to put up with. We might be shit but at least it's my club I grew up watching not some fake identity. 100% stand by it.

Thats fair enough but then those that said it shouldnt now be complaining about being crap in the Championship.

I look on the Bluebirds Unite Facebook page now and again and the double standards are astounding. Truly astounding.

Only last week someone wanted to protest becausde Tan wouldnt put his hand in his pocket, this the same guy who they wanted out!!!

I agree about the bond but times have changed, that bond doesnt exist anymore at a lot of clubs who havent been rebranded, thats just the modern football has gone.

Yes weve had it as bad as anyone with the rebrand but for me watching football in the last decade and before the rebrand wasnt the same for those of us who were fortunate (or unfortunate depends on your take) who watched football in the 80's and 90's.

110 percent happy to be in league 2 with pure identity. The strange thing for me is I am not too bothered if we get relegated this season. The lower leagues supporting city were the best times I have had. Perhaps premiership again in our true identity will be better than the 1 year nightmare experience. No regrets just glad we are back in our true colours

Spot on. Same here. Obviously not happy with the situation but I'd take this over being in the prem playing in red any day.

It’s obvious the mass majority have voted with there feet. The majority wants to see a successful team and didn't care about the colour. but in the end the minority won the day

I'm happy what ever league we are in, providing we play in Blue and the club is united. Which under foo man Tan we never ever will be :bluebird:

There is the possibility the attendance would be worse in red. The new kit sales certainly a good income, i think it's best to realise re-brand reversal benefited the club in some capacity :bluescarf:

We are getting the same crowds that we always have when towards the bottom of this division. Can't get my head around those who think this is unusual, we've been here before with almost exactly the same crowd figures. This is Cardiff, not Arsenal.

If thats the case why are the minority, well some of the vocal minority, talking about protesting just because the team isnt winning!?!?!?!

You make an excellent point and follow it up with couple more further down the page.

I wasn't one of those who said blue in 2 at the time but I understood the sentiment even if I personally wouldn't want my team to fail by getting 2 more relegations.

THIS. The one thing you can guarantee is that those who fought for the Blue regard those 3 years in red as their worst nightmare and not even being relegated can match that, as long as we are in Blue.

No, several on the Bluebirds Unite Facebook page. Not Sian may I add, members of the page.

You cant have the mantra "Rather be Blue in League Two" then stage protests because we are doing shit in the Championship. Not in my book anyway.

Chris, your right the bond has gone big time and our club last year, the year before etc asked fans for suggestions and had meetings and did not act on anything that was said.

Our current plight only the club can be blamed for as they have made all the decisions themselves.

As to the old days I was lucky enough to be there and your right we can't go back, those days are gone forever.

100% Spot on and if I had not met up with all my friends before the game on Saturday and Friday night, the actual going to the match on Saturday was miserable from start to finish in the stadium, worse than awful.

Re: Rather be Blue in League Two

Mon Sep 19, 2016 12:41 pm

People trying to link the blue issue with the mess we are in at the moment is nonsense. We are in it for two reasons

Malky and Tan fall out. Before this became public we were about 14th in the Premier but fell apart from November onwards as it became cleared he would be sacked over non football matters.

Replacing Malky with Ole. I don't blame Ole for taking us down- the damage had been done- but the price we are paying for the money he wasted in the pre season transfer window and the contracts negotiated will hold us back for another three years at least. I am at a loss to understand how Tan etc allowed it to happen and just goes to show they have no idea of football.

We only changed back to blue in January 2015, long after all the above occurred and we were sitting in lower mid table.

Just think how many would be turning up if we were bottom of the table and still playing in red!!

Re: " Rather be Blue in League Two "

I absolutely would be blue and league 2 than PL and red.

This is the reason I walked away in 2012 and Cardiff City was my life, home and away. I know City are back to blue, which is great, but I just have not the passion to return right now. its gone but I hope that one day it will return as its in my heart and will never leave.

I keep telling Wez,Allan etc this is the reason why our club is still hurt/broken and has No real Passion.

That is so true Annis. I never thought I could live without my fix of City but the rebrand made me walk away. I had a season ticket since 1993 and watched City home and away did not want to be theresince 1969.
It was so hard not to return when City were storming the league and going on a 10 win run at home. But they were red not blue so it stuck in my pit of my stomach.
I will confess that I did attend the Newcastle game at home in the PL as my wife is Asian and she wanted to go so I gave in, but the minute I ordered my tickets I knew it was wrong. The walk to the stadium seeing people dressed in red made me feel sick and I did not want to be there.
When I got home I vowed I would never return if City were red. I know they are now blue but I have not returned yet as I have lost the passion I once had. I still look at the results and hope City win every time but when they lose, it does not hurt as much as it once did.
But once a bluebird always a bluebird :ayatollah:

I've been following this club for 50 years now, so like you have seen more bad times than good. We've had our fair share of crap Chairmen and directors over the years, and much worse players than we have now. We've had gates of just a couple of thousand, and a few time have looked close to going out of business. For all that, in the main the fan base remained united, and we had some cracking atmosphere at NP even with only a few thousand there. As soon as the club changed to red shirts, it seemed to me as if our identity was gone, and for whatever reason, nothing has been the same since. Our fan base seems permanently split as a result of the re-brand. However, that's in the past and I am trying to forget it and look to the future. I know a lot of fans will never feel the same while Tan is here, but even when he's gone I think the fan base has changed now, and we just have to accept that the modern game and it's fanbase is completely different to what it was.

i was one of the ppl who said id rather be blue in league two but im gna be honest i didnt think tan would just pull the plug the way he has, one extreme to the other with tan and to be honest i think until tan goes we wont see big numbers turn up at the ccs ppl are just fed up being fed bullshit constantly by the board,we need a CEO who will stand up for the best for the club not a yes man that we have in choo/dalman. i think the problem is nobody expected us to just start selling anyone we can get a fee for and replace them with shit or not replace them at all.

just want to say this tho, had we started amos from the start of the season i dont think we'd be in the bottom 3

Steve, everything you say there is true, but some can't accept it still and won't come back till Tan is gone, others like me can't accept he did it,but still go and many are so hurt by what happened by Tan and his red followers that they will never come back and thats why our away support is diabolical.

I wish I would have done the same to be honest looking back. But I found it too hard to walk away and thought I'd be more use staying and protesting for a return to blue unless a mass boycott was organised. I think the moment it was announced a mass boycott should have been organised but we were lacking the organisation between fans and the divide split the fanbase.
