' HAS PAUL TROLLOPE FAILED TO ADDRESS? '

Cardiff City manager Paul Trollope has signed striker Rickie Lambert, so do you agree with the below report?

FAILING TO ADDRESS THE STRIKER ISSUE?

Football league reporter

Monday 19th September 2016

Last season, a lack of clinical finishing in front of goal was blamed as being the difference between the Bluebirds reaching the play-offs and failing to reach the play-offs.

It was the main problem from last season and it was something that Trollope openly admitted the club needed to rectify coming into this season.

However, Trollope’s method of dealing with the issue was to get rid of strikers Eoin Doyle, Kenwyne Jones, Etien Velikonja, Federico Macheda, Idriss Saadi, Rhys Healey, and Adam Le Fondre, and then only replace them with the unknown quantities of Benin international Frederic Gounongbe, 22-year-old Dane Kenneth Zohore, and 34-year-old Rickie Lambert.

Now, admittedly, the players that departed hadn’t done the business for the club, but to only make moves for those three strikers when attack was an obvious weakness is nothing short of incompetent.

This is even more baffling when rival clubs such as Bristol City and Burton Albion have signed the likes of Tammy Abraham and Jackson Irvine respectively on a budget with stunning results.

Naïve player recruitment at best from Trollope.

Defence and midfield is the bigger problem right now.

It says in the report it was trollopes idea to off load the list of strikers I believe it was the boards decision Trollope is going to be blamed for not bringing in quality replacements again another decision taken out of his hands

Whoever wrote this is a bit of a twit. He is bagging out our striker signings and named two players from other clubs, one of those two is a defensive midfielder in Jackson Irvine, yes he has scored a few goals this season already but he is not playing up front. Unfortunately for Cardiff our midfield do not contribute any goals either.

100% it was the board that got rid of our players, that was out of Trollopes hands.
I agree with some of the players we've got rid of,but some of the others all we've done is weaken our first team and made us have No chance of challenging for the play-offs.

Trollope as a manager should be making a stance.

Saadi has got games under his belt now. Get him recall him from his loan? Hes got the pace that could compliment Lambert.

Saadi should be match fit now, get him back , he is on peanuts compared to most. The cameo I seen him against Reading showed what we are missing, unfortunately trying to impress in that game he injured himself.

We struggled last season finding the net - It was essential we got a proven goalscorer in and we failed

I know Trollope was away with Wales but thats no excuse for addressing a problem

Under FIFA rules Saadi can only be recalled in January and then only if the loan agreement includes a recall clause. Given our number 1 priority this summer has been reduce the wage bill, AT ALL COST, anyone really believe Ken Choo would have included a recall clause in the loan agreement.

How does it go Hmmmmm.

Cheers for that. I still can't make a judgement on weather he's good enough but he's definatly got pace to burn which were desperate for. I doubt chop has thought that far ahead.

Joey Barton about to become available! ;) :laughing6:

It's not as wild a suggestion as it may appear, so long as Paul Trollope could control him. Some managers have and (as at Burnley last season) he can make a big difference to a team! :ayatollah:

the problem was we was never looking to invest in the areas we needed to strengthen, really we needed a centre mid and also a winger and a centre back and two strikers, we got huws and lambert but this wasnt enough to really get us going we needed pace and also in midfield we needed players who can beat a man rather than pass the ball sideways,to many our players are to similar to eachother

Too many good players have not performed this season. Of course, they're at fault, but a decent manager would sort this out. Trollope is quite a good coach, but not a manager. We had the opportunity to appoint the likes of Pulis or Hughton when OGS was sacked. Too many mistakes by the club's hierarchy I'm afraid, and it's now showing on the field.

Thing is with Bristol signing that Chelsea youngster is we wouldn't welcome the signing because he is not 'proven' which is what you all been crying out for (majority) which is why we got Rickie Lambert.

Easy to say we should have went in for that Abraham because the good start he had yet no-one probably ever heard of him before he came to Bristol.

Lack of quality in midfield for quite a few years now. No wonder our strikers cant score with quality service.
