Morrison, Manga and Connolly

Not sure what has happened to these three this season but they have been poor at best.

Morrison has always been slow but in recent games he's been constantly backing off when players run at him and yesterday and Tuesday he got turned and outpaced by players who went on to score. Surprised he's captain because he never seems to be encouraging other players and is certainly not the most vocal of players.

Manga looks like he doesn't want to be here. We've had two very good seasons from him but he still always seems to make at least one silly mistake in every game. I've been a big fan of his but now he seems to play like his mind is elsewhere. No doubt he's one of the highest earners at the club, if not the highest now, and needs start justifying his fat wage packet fast.

Connolly was player of the season last year and rightly so. This year he's been nothing short of shocking. He's been run ragged by pacy players running at him, been guilty of ball watching at times, given the ball to the opposition frequently (yesterday it should really have led to a goal), and of course gave away a penalty with a stupid hold when it was obvious that the ref was looking for an excuse to give a penalty.

He did make one fantastic tackle yesterday when their player was through but that was just him rectifying a mistake he'd already made in letting the lad get free!

What's wrong with them? Is it perhaps that they are feeling more vulnerable with the system Trollope is playing? But yesterday they played in a back four so that shouldn't have been a problem. Are they all just out of form?

Cebtre half is such an important position that if you don't get it right, the inevitable leaking of goals is bound to follow.

The departure of Marshall seems to have drained confidence from the whole defence. The people at the back have been the best, most consistent part of the team for a long time. Now they are as bad as the rest of it.
