Former QPR and Cardiff City winger released by Evesham United

Former Arsenal youngster Leon Jeanne has left Evesham United after a brief spell with the Southern League Division One South and West club.

Winger Jeanne, 35, has made a handful of substitute appearances and was keen to make his first start, but boss Paul Collicutt said his fitness levels were not high enough to be considered.

"I would love to have seen Leon play when he was younger because he has the ability to go around players like they are not there," Collicutt said.

"I like him and I wanted to give him a chance, but he hasn't had a pre-season and he isn't fit enough to be starting games at the moment.

"I told him that and we have decided to part company and I understand that he wants to be playing."

Collicutt has Jordan Bryan, Elliot Kennedy and Paul Fahy has other wide options, along with the fit-again Jake Sloggett.

"We have youth and energy and while Leon has the skill, he misses out on that front," Collicutt said.

"If we had given him a proper pre-season he'd have been a great signing, but at the moment he needs to find another club and get himself fit."

Biggest waste of talent I have ever seen. Shame because some say he would of been better than Giggs had he been wired up right.

Why don't this guy just give it up.

He's blown more chances than Bruce Forsyths blown out birthday candles.

An incredible talent and for those who know Leon they will testify he is a very humble and lovely bloke. He has had his demons over the years but would do anything for his friends and family. It's a tragedy how his career turned out as he should have been a Wales regular for many years.
