Who is bringing the pace?

By Chris Wathan

Craig Noone helped improve Cardiff in the second half at Preston, but has he done enough for a recall?

Cardiff are mirroring the Wales formation, but lacking the rather fundamental factor of Gareth Bale's pace on the counter.

There is only one Gareth Bale, of course, but in general terms the Bluebirds lack zip.

Kadeem Harris provided some of it at Preston. However, given that he was doing so in a wing-back role, his lack of defensive awareness creates a problem.

Likewise, Declan John should have enough gas to get forward but is appears overly shy in doing so at present.

With little in terms of pace through the middle, it has to come from wide whatever system is being played.

However, Craig Noone has done little to scream out for a recall.

Again, it could depend on the system – Harris an option further forward in a 4-3-3 – but it remains a question for Cardiff to answer?

If nooney is our only pace in the side then we can wave goodbye to the championship I'm afraid.

Harris is the obvious choice but still needs work on the defensive side of his game. It worries me that the formation were trying to play requires pace rather than football ability.

He is the obvious choice and should be an out and out winger and therefore not too worried about his defensive duties if he had a full-back behind him.

I haven't spoken to one person who believes that Harris should continue as a wing-back... he doesn't do 'back'.

However, I also believe that the whole system is wrong given our personnel and agree with Blakes article that it needs to be scrapped in favour of a system where wingers can play.

I don't see Trollope changing. He seems the stubborn sort and would rather see us in a desperate position and even lose his job before trying something different.

Rapid counter attacks are what the formation allows when it works? Gareth Bale is the best in the world at this, no wonder the Welsh team play it

Trolloppe needs to adapt quickly and stop trying too flog a dead horse. If harris as already stated is the paceman of the team yet is defensive game is not up to it then hes not suited to playing wing back.
Until the personnel change who can play this system trolloppe needs to play a system to suit the squad weve got.
