This Bandwagon Mentality

Mon Sep 12, 2016 2:19 am

I haven't posted on here for a while, so apologies if this has already been discussed....

What is it with our club and jumping on the bandwagon of what works for others? Here are some examples off the top of my head, but I'm sure you can come up with some more;

Tan says, look at Swansea, they have signed Michu for a couple of million and he is a big success, i want 11 Michu's

OGS is getting linked with jobs in the Premier League (villa) lets make him our number 1 target for gaffer

Bournemouth have promoted from within and been successful, lets try that

Wales playing well with five at the back, we are a Welsh club, that's our new formation

The Cardiff City way, lets play like Wales or Liverpool and gain an identity.....I found this rather ironic with the points ive mentioned above.

Im sure there is more examples of this, I dont follow the day to day club news as I used too, so perhaps im wrong, and some of these ideas are newer and more exciting than i assume?

I think that when you first get involved in something that you know absolutely nothing about, it's easier to try to look at business models of what has been successful before and try to copy that rather than innovate from the start.

That may well work in certain type of "businesses" in say,the retail world but football is and always has been such a unique sport that what works perfectly well for one team in one situation may be completely useless to another in the same position.

Tan may be beginning to learn the harsh realities of how football works financially but the jury is still out on whether he has learnt much if anything about how to get the best from the playing side of the club.

I do think that this observation goes hand in hand with the instant gratification syndrome. As long as the powers that be have factored in this phenomenon to their plans we should be OK long term.

I knew you would come up with a response like that....so tell me you think the club is run well by tan..he knows nothing about football yet annis tells us that some of signings are his..he wanted marshall to score more..he wanted us to shoot more
You're on the bandwagon of knocking others post because they dont agree with you...what he said is spot on..sorry steve but I think you are wrong ....my opinion

I agree with the OP,,,,or more importantly,,,what is the new "Cardiff City" way now? Is this yet another five year plan,,, to now emulate the Welsh national squad? Then perhaps VT should hire Chris Coleman as a consultant,,,maybe he already has, I don't know. What I do know is that thing are not good at City,,,,they haven't been for a long time, in fact, things are getting progressively worse,,,almost by the day, & there doesn't look to be any change in that downwards spiral either.

I really hope that City, PT, & Co can get it all right, for the sake of our club, because no amount of Spin & bull shit from the higher echelons of CITY will convince me that we are currently on the road to recovery, & eventual success.

Its what happens on the pitch that matters most, so here's hoping for 3 points tomorrow night at PNE.

The new Cardiff City way seems to be, lose a load of matches at the beginning of the season, and see which month the club start to panick in. My guess will be tail end of November :bluebird: :bluebird:

Your right Gav. It's taken the tan 7/8 years to realise that we need our own identity and plan that is reverberated through the club. Except it's not ours, it's Wales's.

But whatever, I couldn't give a shit who we copy as long as it works and we start winning. But it's not happening.

Either way I'm glad we're trying something fresh and I still think it will come good.

'the Cardiff way' is the newest soundbite out of watching a Liverpool, Ajax or Barca documentary. I prob go for Barca. The OP is right, other clubs lead, Cardiff follow the trends
