Paul Trollope: Head coach upbeat despite Cardiff City's struggles

Cardiff City head coach Paul Trollope insists performances are improving despite the 3-2 defeat at Norwich City.

The Bluebirds have slipped to 19th place in the Championship after only one win in their opening six league matches.

They are just one point above the relegation zone but Trollope, who was appointed in May, is staying positive.

"I believe in what we're doing and how we're working. We're still putting building blocks in place," he said.

"There were large positives to take [against Norwich]. There's s lot of good things to take from the performance, none more so than the spirit of the group in adversity during the second half.

"We've had a few disappointments and we're not where we want to be points-wise.

"But we've got a belief and togetherness in the group that in the end we'll get there."

Trollope praised the performance of Rickie Lambert, who made his debut against the Canaries after his deadline-day move from West Bromwich Albion.

The 34-year-old striker forced a good save from Michael McGovern in the first half before hitting the bar with a header in the second half.

"He does lack game-time. He'll take a bit of time to get back in the groove," said Trollope.

"But there were really good signs. He and Anthony Pilkington can form a good partnership. They've got good attributes that compliment each other.

"And I think they showed good glimpses of knitting together our forward play."

Blah blah blah ... improvement must turn into results and QUICK. This is beginning to sound like a record that's stuck :old:

If you're improving and still losing, how shit must you have been before you improved?

The record books are full of relegated teams who were constantly "improving" and "taking the positives" whilst regularly losing games.
