Paul Trollope has appointed Sean Morrison as the new captain of the Bluebirds.
Paul Trollope has confirmed that Sean Morrison is the new permanent Cardiff City captain.
The 25-year-old centre-back takes over from David Marshall, who left the club for Premier League new boys Hull City.
Morrison wore the armband for the defeats to Bristol Rovers and Reading, and the Bluebirds Head Coach says he has 'grown in stature'.
He said: “Sean is skipper on and off the pitch. He’s grown in stature since coming through as a young centre-back at Swindon and Reading. He’s making good progress and he’s well respected in the group.”
Morrison missed most of pre-season as he recovered from surgery at the end of the last campaign but Trollope says the hunger he showed
“He showed great desire to get fit from being injured during pre-season. That was testament to both him and the fitness staff. He’ll be a very good captain for us.”

People saying Gunnarsson but it was obvious to me and the right decision.

this is tge right decision

He's one of the most vocal players we have but for me he is not a captain, this is a guy not long ago caught shitting in the street.
Lee Peltier all day for me.

Matthew Connolly and Bruno Ecuélé Manga were ahead of him last season.
Aron Gunnarsson has been here much longer and would definitely be my choice as captain.
Good luck to Sean Morrison, though.

Correct decision

I do recognise that Morrison does have leadership qualities, the problem is that I don't see him as a first choice. Personally my ideal CB three would be Manga, Connolly and Peltier and I'd actually have Peltier as captain.
It just seems a more balanced three with Peltier there. Connolly and Manga providing the ball playing ability and Peltier the sharp, hard tackling cover.
I wouldn't have had Gunnarsson as I don't think he will, or should, be first choice either.
So not the obvious choice for me but he will exert more on field influence than we've had from Marshall.

Great choice. I think Morrison has played well this season and he is a leader and a starter when fit.
He shits where he wants!

IMO there is not one stand out player that looks like a captain so he is probably the best of them all

What I like about Morrison, Chris, is that he's improving as a player and a leader all the time.
He's starting to remind me of Hudson.

Morrison is improving all the time, but if you watch Gunnars on the field he's the one giving advice and encouragement to the likes of Harris. Hope it doesn't mean we're looking to flog Aron in January.

Yes, I agree and can see the similarities in style
He should be a stalwart of this seasons team and he's got a better overview of the game from his position
I stood next to him recently and he's a big unit, so no dissent from within the ranks! LOL

Great choice and would been my choice, a real leader and a top defender for me, scores vital goals as well.

Morrison captain? He shouldn't even be starting for us! I wonder who out of Connelly, Manga and Peltier will be dropped to accommodate our new captain? Crazy decision by Trollope when Connelly, Peltier or Gunnarsson could have been selected!

morrison is the right decision

PC Crew gone mad again - let us not sign a player who has been in jail - scores goals and is welsh
But a year ago run down this player on this board ( our new captain ) Also ok to sign another Morrison who had previous

What vital goals?

QPR away, Blackburn home, few others.

He was also at fault for one of QPR's goals. Just like he was at fault for Reading's goal last week and Norwich's 2nd goal, but he scores the odd goal every now and again, so apparently that makes all his mistakes alright for some.

Of course he's at fault for a few goals. No different to any other defender. I'm a big fan of Manga but he makes the odd mistake as well. If you analyze goals in general then somebody is nearly always at fault just as Wilson was yesterday with the first one.
That's why him, Connolly and Manga are all championship defenders and not playing in the Prem.

My point is Morrison makes mistakes a lot more frequently than any of our other defenders and he's a weakness, that's why I was shocked Trollope appointed him captain. Morrison shouldn't be in our first team.

Good luck to him hope he becomes a captain fantastic. Not my fav player but I will support him

Nonsense.
Perhaps you should blame Peltier for the third goal as he didn't close the player down quickly enough. Or Wilson for the first.
Good assist by our captain as well.
