A forum for all things Cardiff City

Former Cardiff City forward Federico Macheda has admitted to the Italian media his two-year spell didn’t go to plan. The 25-year-old was this summer released by the Championship side, and he’s now waiting for another club to come in for him.
Speaking to TMW, Macheda was asked how he thought his time in south Wales went. The Italian said unfortunately it didn’t go to plan because of the injury problems he had whilst at the club. He believes these issues didn’t help him get any consistency, and feels it was right to leave Cardiff City this summer.
“Things did not go well, unfortunately. In the two years I had some physical problems that did not allow me to have the continuity that I hoped for. It was right to turn the page,” said Macheda.
Macheda has never been able to rediscover the form he showed in his first season with Manchester United, when he scored vital goals to help the club win the Premier League title. The forward has had several loan spells with a number of clubs, including Nottingham Forest last season.
Macheda now ready to pick a new club and although the striker has had offers, he’s not yet had the right one.

A brief but honest statement by Macheda here. He admits he didn't do himself justice, that injuries played a big part and that it was right to move on at this point!
Some will have a 'pop' at him but I don't recall him asking for anything other than to play and I don't recall him (even now he's gone) slating the club or its coaching staffs
Good luck to the boy, I say. I wish him well

Fully agree Sven, personally I believe he would have been a good striker in this division if he'd been fit enough to get a run of games. Unfortunately on the wage he was on he was a financial liability to us with his fitness problems.

Quite possibly he did have a few niggling injuries which didn't help....however doesn't alter the fact he was a gutless, lazy player who shirked every single physical challenge
Also remember his stay with us cost the club (ie us) somewhere in the region of £2 million and also he was sent back from his loan spell with Forest after being voted their worst ever loan signing...so sorry his words mean nothing to me and am glad he has gone..good riddance

Sadly, that's the sort of comment I expected and that's your prerogative but I'll stick to my own opinion that Macheda could have been good for Cardiff City FC and sometimes (unlike ALF and Dikgashoi) it's not for any reason other than simple bad luck
