SKY TV Cancellation Deals

Sun Sep 04, 2016 11:12 am

For anyone interested I posted on here a few weeks ago that I had given notice to sky to cancel my subscription with them

They contacted me today and have offered 60% off for 12 months. I have the full package including broadband, HD, box sets, skygo + etc

This is going to save me over £500 in the next 12 months...amazing what the threat of going to the opposition makes...well worth doing if you want to save a fortune!!!

Wez I will probably do something similar when the new 12 month contract is up...decided I am never going to pay full price to sky ever again..they paid way over the odds for the last premier league deal and I for one ain't going to pay over the odds to line the pockets of so many average players and their agents

That's why I didn't bother had sky for the last 20 years and had enough of them it was only when I canceled that they offered it all for 80 instead of 108 but I made my mind up

penalising long term customers by shifting them onto uncompetitive deals whilst enticing new customers with prices that are maybe a third of that is disgraceful. loyalty should result in lower prices, not higher.

it would not be tolerated in other industries so why is accepted as standard practice in telecoms / insurance?

everyone on such deals must threaten to cancel every year in order to ensure they are paying a competitive price. otherwise you risk being put on a suckers list where they ramp up your monthly cost.

to be shifted on plans upwards of £60 a month for TV is mind boggling. imagine telling someone in 1990 that companies would be doing that in 2016, they would laugh their heads off.

Yeah I've had mine a week now and worth the money you don't get the pay HD channels tho but you do get every channel box and 1 year gift is 150 well worth it

I did the same in June. They offered me 10% off then 25%, I turned them both down and started sweating as it got close to the day the service would be terminated but they offered me 50% off just before so I took it.

Glad I read these posts. Some good advice on here. After reading this, I am going to either cancel Sky or change my package. Paying way over the odds as far as I can see, especially as I seem to have gone back to watching a lot of BBC & ITV during recent years. Apart from maybe one or two decent films and a couple of football matches each month, there's not much else that catches my interest on Sky any more.

since they lost the champions league and European footy to bt it's just a rip off

Re: SKYTV Cancellation Deals

I switched to BT from Sky after being with them since 1992 few months back.

Was paying £105 a month for Sky (not including line rental)

Paying £60 for BT (including line rental)

I have been paying it for years like most people can't be arsed messing about with change etc but Sky realy is a load of crap now and not worth anywhere near what they are charging.

It's insulting when they try and offer you a deal at the last minute, like someone said above, same as Car Insurance, just offer me a fair price at the start, but that's how they work I suppose, its mental how many people just renew renew renew without shopping about especially some of the older generation (no offence intended).

I pay £40 a year for ALL the channels including PPV etc. Just get a Skybox F5S or similar and never get ripped off by Sly again.

Re: SKYTV Cancellation Deals

Mon Sep 05, 2016 3:42 pm

I would do that but my Mrs is like you ain't taking my sky off me. Bloody rip off

Re: SKY TV Cancellation Deals

A friend of mine who also cancelled has been offered the same 60% off for 12 months....so this would appear the norm at present and a pretty good deal!!! (Sky seem a bit desperate to hang on to customers maybe they are starting to see a bit of a protest against all the recent subscription increases)
