Had we had lambert from the start of this season we would have an extra 5 points.
We would have beat birmingham he would have buried the chances fred missed thats 3 points instead of 1.
We would have also beat reading as that game would have been dead and buried 1st half as he would have scored the headers immers missed and scored maybe more cos we dominated them 1st half that 3 points instead of zero then.
That would make us sit 3rd in the championship at the moment so would people still be moaning then and slating the club i dont think so? A striker that can put the ball in the back of the net is crucial at this level and as proved with the games we have lost points on can be massive and the difference between promotion and mid table, rickie lambert is a goalscorer FACT just look at his record.
A lot of posters are whinging already about lambert i think these posters expected us to sign berahino on loan instead or fraizer campbell. Well lambert has got a much better goalscoring record than fraizer at every level hes played at and a world cup and england appearances under his belt which fraizer has never been good enough to get.
Fans crying out for a proven championship goalscorer well thats what lambert is and fans still moaning lol. Lambert is outstanding in the air can you imagine this fellas nut getting on the end of whittinghams corners and free kicks he could have a field day. Got good feet and knows how to finish better than anyone we have had at this club since chopra and bothroyd.
Welcome to city rickie!

Absolutely no way of knowing how many more points we would have had with any one different player on the pitch. Even Messi can miss sitters, and our new striker has'nt been scoring many since his Southampton days. We will see, but I think our fans are expecting too much from a player coming to the end of his career, and are going completely over the top just because we have signed someone who was a very good player some time ago.
On the plus side, his experience and dressing room influence will hopefully rub off onto the rest of the team.

You've been around long enough to have heard all this before. Every signing or change of formation or new manager has half the forum users wetting their pants with excitement. Half our recent signings who were going to be the best thing since sliced bread ended up hardly ever playing for us before being offloaded or loaned out. I am just trying to add a bit of realism, we have just signed Lambert, not Messi or Ronaldo. If you check any of the match threads, I think you will find I have been a bit too optimistic in my predictions. I had us having 6 points from our opening 5 games, so looks like I was wildly over enthusiastic there. I want us to win every game just as you do. However, I accept that this is not going to happen.
