Frontman seals switch to South Wales

ALBION striker Rickie Lambert has tonight joined Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee.

Lambert, 34, arrived from Liverpool last summer and went on to make five Premier League starts and a further 14 substitute appearances in 2015/16, scoring once.

He appeared off the bench in this season’s league defeat to Everton, and most recently started the Club’s EFL Cup second-round tie at Northampton Town.

Lambert joins a Cardiff side who are currently 17th in the Championship and finished just outside the play-off places last season.

Everyone at West Bromwich Albion would like to wish Rickie all the very best for the future.

In all competitions, Lambert made 10 starts and a further 16 substitute outings for the Club, scoring once against Leicester City at The Hawthorns.

Cardiff City have completed the signing of Rickie Lambert from West Bromwich Albion for an undisclosed fee.

The 34-year-old joined the Baggies from Liverpool last summer, but was forced to settle for a bit-part role at The Hawthorns.

The striker made just five Premier League starts for the club last season and made just one substitute appearance during the opening stages of the current campaign.

Lambert has signed a two-year deal in South Wales, keeping him at the Cardiff City Stadium until 2018.

"I am very excited to be here at Cardiff City. The sooner I can get on the scoresheet and start helping my new club, the better. I'm used to being relied on to score goals," he told the club's official website.

Lambert will wear the number 19 shirt for the Bluebirds.
