A forum for all things Cardiff City

We will see what it is...
A lot of money recouperrated in wages and transfer fees lately.
Are they cutting costs, keeping every pennt and just gambling and hoping to survive with what we already got?
Or will they sign some decent players so that we can compete for the play offs?
End of deadline day we will now for a fact what vincent tans intent is for the club this season.

Any signings i feel will either be free low risk players or lower division foreign signings brought in by Tan. I can't see us bringing any sort of quality in.
Then again, I'm always an extreme pessimist when it comes to Cardiff as it eases the feeling of being let down time and time again

I say it every season...
I support Cardiff with a heavy heart these days
Supporting the City is a tough gig fella!!!
It is always the fans for me that give me the sense of brotherhood, banter and belonging.
Worse for me is killing the craic in the stadium
generally - the football, the club - the owners have been shite throughout my 35 years supporting
the mighty Bluebirds

they are still in Wetherspoons so no decisions before they move off the bow on to the shorts!

Ambition gone with the sale of Marshall for a pittance. It's pathetic and shows how inept Tan is. Even if he wants to sell the club it makes no sense because crowds will be way down and the team fighting relegation. Tan Out!

My expectations are low.
If Trollop was instrumental in bringing in Gounangbe and making Zahore permanently, how can he be trusted to bring in anyone with a decent track record?
Le Fondre if he stays, should be made part of the first team squad permanently.

Just read the post that Wigan are taking Le Fondre.
Why don't they just sign him rather than these lingering loans.
Wed Aug 31, 2016 10:54 am
the longer the day goes the more i think we are not going to sign anyone
Wed Aug 31, 2016 11:13 am
If we do sign anyone then it will be an average player, on low wages, either a free transfer or a season long loan.
This season is all about cost-cutting once again and Championship survival.

It won't make a difference to us, as his contract is up at the end of this season and he's a free agent. City were hoping for a fee to off-set their losses, which is why he remained to date
Wed Aug 31, 2016 11:15 am
All our players are up for sale
Whoever goes out you can be sure that we will get inferior replacements
Tan has lost interest in the club and was not happy that we went back to blue and even less happy that he had to get rid of Slade
This is his payback time and his revenge for not doing what he wanted
He has well and truly fucked up the club and everything in it
Whilst he is still here don't expect any more decent signings
And it's not to do with FPP as we are allowed to make a loss of 13 million before that kicks in

they are only paying 70% his wages

I'm not sure if its more a case of Survival this season, & I'm trying to look at things logically, from a financial sense.
Most of the players who have recently left (with the exception of Marshal) needed to go,,,asap. I think its a case of going backwards now, in order to move forwards in the future.
This season has got to be all about retaining our Championship status, that's the level of ambition for the next forty odd games. Anything less would be another financial disaster!

It's clearly the transfer committee that a feeding these players into the squad as they both came from Tans sister club.

I am not expecting any signings today, well any that makes the heart beat a little faster. But, it wasn't that long ago that we were waiting for court decisions.
This forum especially was back to blue whatever the consequence and we are now living it. The first bit of disappointment and we fall into panic and despair.
IMO this is all good news. Vinny is making us salable. There is a difference in potential and reality, Marshall isn't worth £10 million today as he has been tossing around in the championship for two seasons after his heroic performances in the premier league, he is two years older so a guaranteed £2.5m rising to £5m is the best we can hope for. He is an asset off the books with a cash replacement and a large chunk of annual salary gone as well.
I am surprised Manga is still here but there is still time to go.
I doubt Vinny would have kept hemorrhaging money and the return to blue was a cracking excuse to drop his pet project and move on to something else. But, this is where we are and must accept it. Sugar daddies get bored and move onto younger and prettier plaything with little conscience.
This season looks like its about scrapping but i don't think some of our fans are up for the fight though.
I hope we don't get lafferty it looks a desperation move like Odemwhingie, I doubt Healey is any worse than what we have.
I would have kept ALF and if he refused to play sack him.

I'd rather us pay 30% of his wages than 100% if he's not going to play

There will be no signings you can see that by Trollope body language

Just because we are allowed to have a £13m loss doesn't me that is what we should do; we are already in debt and there is only so much debt that you can keep adding before it becomes unsustainable.
There are two clubs in this league that you would think are almost certs to go back up - Newcastle and Villa - leaving one place. You then have another load of clubs that are spending loads of money - you'd expect if these clubs don't get promoted, they fall foul of FFP and be in a mess. It might be that the board have looked at it and made a call that this season is just too competitive and spending big money is too risky with so little guarantee and therefore they can't take the risk of us just creating a further £13m of debt for nothing.
Wed Aug 31, 2016 3:01 pm
I assume your giving Tan the benefit of the doubt
We should at least try and be competitive
We don't have to break the bank to sign decent players ,even on loan
Tan is getting his revenge on us

yeah he even paid off £68M of debt to get his revenge on us

Tan has made some silly mistakes in his time here - but I don't believe he is out for revenge like so many people claim. If he wanted to exact revenge there are other things he could do that are far worse - he could even change us back to red, because no fans came flocking back as we promised him they would!
I agree that you don't have to break the bank to sign decent players - except in this window the sums of money being spent on average/ok players are eye watering and unprecendted at this level. Part of our issue is that we have been breaking the bank signing players for over a decade now; don't get me wrong, I'm hugely frustrated we still haven't addressed obvious issues in the squad, but it does look like the club are finally trying to cut their cloth. We have said for ages that needs to happen, now we are complaining they won't load on more debt.
My biggest issue is that we're shipping players out left, right and centre without any replacements - for Macheda, Alf and now Healy to all go out having seen how badly we are struggling for goals is an extremely poor reflection on the planning that has gone into this window and is unbelievably amateurish.

Correct, I know it's frustrating for a lot of fans that we aren't singing" big name" players but we can't do that anymore we are now finally beginning to sort out the debt from previous regimes and are getting cheaper players to stay competitive in the division, we could gamble on spending more money on players but as are a lot of other teams and only 3 go up so we could spend all that money and not go up and we add more to the debt with us still in the championship. I'm happy for us to have a few sseasons rebuilding while we sort the debt out
