" CARDIFF CITY STRIKER LEAVES "

Tue Aug 30, 2016 10:26 am

Cardiff City can confirm that Federico Macheda’s contract with the club has been terminated by mutual agreement. The player leaves Cardiff City with immediate effect.

We would like to thank Federico for his contribution and wish him the very best for his future.

It is believed Cardiff have agreed to pay 50% of his contract up.

Beat me to it. Marshall's move probably helped pay for it.

Well done OGS, Lim and Tan. That's another £1.2m to pay up his contract coming on top of the disastrous Dikgacoi transfer resulting in a settlement of £0.72m if contracts were paid up in full. So you lose Fabio and Marshall to pay off Macheda and Dikgacoi. What wonderful business.

The three amigos were a waste of space, another expensive payout there not fit to be called professionals.
Previous manager has wasted so much on players it will take a long time for the club to recover.

Rob, more money wasted during Tans reign and now we are suffering as we need a good striker.

A decent scorer will cost millions which we now dont have after paying up contracts.

A shame I think he could score goals but got injured and not given a chance.

Umm! 50% of his contract is £650k 6 months before we break even so by Feb we would have paid him this amount, but if he was still here we would have had to pay him another £650k until the end of his contract, to me Steve that is good business

remember that every penny given to wasters like dicagoi and macheda is money not available for transfers. we operate almost on a shoestring nowadays and so these terminations have hit our budget hard.

to be honest, i would have called macheda's bluff. i would have told him he will be stuck in the reserves for the rest of the season and told him to find a club. if he didnt find a club january is only 3 months off. he would have had a choice to take a pay cut or ruin his career stuck in our reserves. given that choice i think he would take the pay cut. however, he is gone and the club made a business decision to pay him off - how much we do not know.

it is now vital we get players in to replace them - we have no real options from the bench and that is hampering our progress.

Considering doesn't look like playing for us again it's good business, but must question original deal but what's done is done upwards and onwards!

Why do you think a contract has to be paid up in full ? most players will rip up there contracts and get a nice big signing on fee from there new club as they are free

Wez as reported we paid only 50% of his contract up so roughly £650k saving £650k consider he wasn't going to play that's good for city

Good business by the club. Theyve obviously tried to get suiters for him but no1 wants him so they have saved money by paying 50% of his wages instead of 100% of his wages when hes sitting in the stands.

true, but fans also demand that money be spent on fees and wages, even if we do not have the money, and so they are not blameless. very few fans tolerate a situation where the budget is cut to a level of expenditure equalling outgoings.

in this case the players bear the brunt of the blame. both signings have ability and could have been successful if the players had given 100%.

Good business by the club as this is money saved over the rest of the season.

If we can stay up this year then we have the option to start rebuilding next year, which will take time and money.

Exactly this is a classic case of a glass half full or half empty ;) If you are positive you see it as a £650k saving a chronic moaner would see it as a £650m hit.

We tried to get rid of him and were unable to do so. Therefore we did the next best thing and paid up some of the contract and we will make a medium term saving.

For some it's better if we kept him even though not playing him or so it appears? :o
