DEAL COMPLETED: BENNETT SIGNS FOR CITY

PUBLISHED

27th August 2016

Left-back links up in three year Bluebirds deal...

We are delighted to confirm that former England U21 international Joe Bennett has completed a deal to join Cardiff City FC from Aston Villa, subject to international clearance.

The twenty-six year old Rochdale-born full back began his professional career with Middlesbrough in 2008, making ninety-two appearances for the Teessiders before signing for Premier League Villa in 2012.

During the last two campaigns, Joe has enjoyed promotion-pushing Championship campaigns with Brighton & Hove Albion, AFC Bournemouth and most recently, Sheffield Wednesday.

He becomes the Bluebirds’ sixth signing of the summer transfer window, will wear the number 3 shirt for the 2016/17 season and has signed a three year deal that will keep him at Cardiff City Stadium until the summer of 2019.

Joe Bennett will not be eligible to feature in today’s game with Reading due to the EFL registration process.

Never wez,as much as I'm dissapointed with Marshall I believe if we reinvest the money wisely we could come out of this with a stronger squad but the clocks ticking

I'm not sure if noone fits in to our new formation, rantie is quick and would stretch opposition defence and and open space up for the rest of our players that's what we've been lacking

Ranti has joined I believe a Turkish club and as for Noone coming good can't see it myself he offers nothing, Lafferty no thanks we need pace.

You keep mentioning Takelo Rantie from Bournemouth but he's signed for Gençlerbirliği in Turkey. He's got a rubbish goal scoring record anyway.

He's fast yes, but he only scored 5 times in 44 games for Bournemouth.

Only recently, but I'd like a proven scorer, Frazier Campbell fits that bill for me. He's fast and knows where the net is. If we can get a proven scorer in with the Marshall money plus I think we'll need another keeper to go with Amos and Wilson. Time is running out now though.
