Contract clauses

Sat Aug 27, 2016 8:38 am

I do understand why we were paying crazy wages on certain players in the Premier League, but to be on the safe side, I do not see why we didn't insert relegation wage drop clauses into these players contracts. That way , you would reduce your bill without having to offload players. We just seem to miss every trick in the book when it comes to players clauses such as sell on percentages etc e.g. Gestede, Conway. We really do lack football knowledge when it comes to agreeing contracts and it pi**es me off!

Well the cost of player's wages did drop by £11mill between the Prem season and the next one so perhaps there were some relegation wage reduction clauses. Doesn't excuse the ridiculous wages we subsequently agreed to give the likes of Le Fondre, Dikgacoi and Macheda though. The club spent like drunken sailors during that period and we are paying for it now.

Caulker and medal were on £50k a week that's £5.2 million
Campbell was on a couple of mill a year ,can't remember who else jumped ship

Yeah but at least Caulker was aiding the local economy - most of his weekly wage went in the pub!
