WILL WE GO FOR IT NEXT SEASON?

Sat Aug 27, 2016 7:42 am

The finances of the club since we came down have been a mess and the transfer embargo proved that. You can't really blame the club for trying to sort the mess out and get the finances in order and balance the books instead of getting a transfer embargo from FFP and fined again, also its a positive that our debt is being slashed by 8m a year and we will eventually be debt free.

Its a shame we can't show more ambition and sign 1 good striker because thats what we need badly and my only gripe is the club should get one on loan or whatever and show ambition there at least.

Im beginning to think this year realistically we will just have to settle for mid table and just stay up and hopefully next year we can go again. Nearly all our big earners will be gone next season as their contracts will be up like alf and macheda etc, slowly we are getting there, we seem to be doing it the sensible way i suppose but next season when our finances and house is in order do you think then vinny and the club will then roll the dice again and show more ambition to get promoted?? I hope so :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Whilst i agree our finances need to be in order...sadly i think vinny is stripping the club bare and signing free transfers like freddy and players like zohore ,that aren t good enough... i think his ambition is to cut the running costs down to as low as he can.
No one will buy the club from him with the price he is asking...so i think he may take a lesser sum but generate as much as he can thru player sales...Manga i think will go...maybe even whitts and Pilkington and gunnar.... i dont think there is any ambition there from him.

We don't need a takeover, we have a billionaire owner who is finally putting our club on an even keel.Like a previous poster said, next year I can see us really going for it again.

At the start of next season there will still be a large amount of the debt outstanding as Tan has said that it will be repaid over the next four years (has to do it that way for FFP)

We will have a team decimated by continuing sales and cutbacks.

We are likely to have lost a few thousand more season ticket sales as fans become more and more disillusioned with the club and it's actions.

We will be coming off a season where we will most likely have had a mid to lower league finish.

What on earth is there to suggest that Tan (and he is the only one that matters) has ANY interest in anything other than continuing cutting things back as much as possible until he can get rid of the club?

Wages will be cut dramatically by next season thats the point. Finances this season and next season will be completely different. Nobody with any sense can knock the club are doing with the cutbacks and getting the finances and running clubs under control and in line with financial fair play, anyone who says we shouldnt be doing it is a moron.

Yes we need to show some ambiton, signing immers jazz richards emyr huws and bennett is a decent start but we need a decent striker signed but ill wait till the end of the window to see what happens and then comment on the clubs intent and ambiton after that.

I hear what you say but we could be starting next season in a position where we need six or seven proven players if we really are serious about a promotion challenge which again we could not afford due to the FFP provisions.

I just don't think that Tan has the inclination to do anything at the club other than recover as much of his investment as he can before he has to effectively write off the remaining debt.

As you say, we'll see where we are on Wednesday. From the players we've signed so far only Immers looks anything other than a mid table Championship player at best.

We won't go for it next season as these new players are not the ideal players for promotion. Another problem is that they will be given three or four year contracts. Bad results, crowds dwindle, finances suffer.

I agree. This year there are still to many legacy costs, plus 2-3 sides who should not have come down.
If I was Tan I wouldn't gamble this year, but next year could be our last chance as the year after the parachute money will be gone

With Marshall imminent to departure and signing mediocre players, this season will be the major stabilisation period. We won't go up or down and finish about 11th. Hopefully next season we make a real effort!
