Cardiff Keen On Striker

Cardiff City are interested in signing Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty from Norwich, according to Sky sources.

The Welsh side are seeking a forward and it is understood Lafferty is on their radar, although no bid has been made as yet.

Former Rangers forward Lafferty was a talisman for his country as he scored seven goals in the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign to help Northern Ireland to their first finals tournament in 30 years.

His club appearances have been more fleeting, however, and he has played just five times for Norwich between this season and last, with a loan spell at Birmingham giving him six more games.

Now 28, Lafferty's most successful spell came at Ibrox, where he scored on the day Rangers won the league for three consecutive seasons.


Since leaving there in 2012 the club have encountered financial difficulties, he has played for Sion, Palermo and had a loan spell at Turkish team Rizespor.

Lafferty moved to Carrow Road two years ago but has only made 13 starts for Norwich, scoring just three times.

I would certainly take him instead of nout so beggars cant be choosers! He could come good who knows, I would obviously back him if he came here. Fits in the underwhelming catergory for me though.

Its better than no striker.

Has been played on the wing for Norwich strangely, but they've not been short of quality centre forwards for years now.

Has a similar sort of history to Bothroyd when he rocked up here...

But perhaps with slightly less talent

He's better coming in from the wide areas than as an out and out striker, surprised he's only 28 seems to have been about for decades.

Think he could do well here, been at norwich with good strikers and players there hard to get in the side but he would be the main man here like northern ireland he could score us the goals to get us where we want to be

Would prefer a Bamford but as stated above not in a position to be cherry picking players unfortunately, so would take him may play well off Fred/Immers

Fulham have bid 3.5 million for a striker with a 1 in 4 average and we don't have that sort of money, let's just hope if it happens he turns into a Bothroyd for us

Thing is thought stats can be deceiving. Like a poster said on here, he's been played out wide for Norwich and barely had a consistent run.

Has a below average goal scoring record, not even as good as what we have already... we need better.

We need an experienced striker. Someone who's been around the English leagues for a while. Not some gamble from abroad, a work in progress. We desperately need a helguson type work horse!
