Cardiff City FC is pleased to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Ben Amos on a season-long loan from Bolton Wanderers, subject to international clearance.

The twenty-six year old ‘keeper came through the ranks at Manchester United, making a total of seven First Team appearances for the Red Devils.

The former England U21 international also garnered experience on loan at sides including Oldham Athletic, Hull City and Bolton Wanderers, before moving permanently to the Macron Stadium in July 2015.

Paul Trollope on Ben Amos

Cardiff City have been linked with signing former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Amos.

Here is what Cardiff City manager Paul Trollope had to say on the link.

At this moment I am not going to talk about individual players.

It is well documented we are looking at areas to strengthen before the window closes.

Once anything is done we can have a good talk about it but for the moment I am not going to talk about individual players.

Needless to say there are two or three positions we are looking for and we are working hard to secure what we want.

Cardiff set to sign Bolton goalkeeper on loan

Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Ben Amos is on the verge of signing for Cardiff City in a loan deal. According to The Bolton News, the former Manchester United youngster is expected to provide cover for David Marshall with the Sky Bet Championship club.

26-year-old Amos is second choice at the Macron Stadium under manager Phil Parkinson, who was appointed earlier this summer. Mark Howard is the number one keeper with the League One club, but Amos’ departure does now mean Parkinson is without senior cover for the ex-Sheffield United shotstopper.

Speaking of Sheffield United, they signed up Simon Moore from Cardiff, who had been acting as the understudy to Marshall with the Welsh club. Amos looks set to take on that mantle. He is one of the higher earning players with the Trotters, but will relish the chance to step up a league, even if he is likely to be mainly acting as a sub goalie.

The Macclesfield-born keeper as played over 40 times for Bolton since signing on a free transfer in 2015. Whilst at Man Utd, he had several loan spells away from Old Trafford. Included in those stints were spells at Hull City, Oldham Athletic and Carlisle United. It remains to be seen if the deal will go through this weekend, but it could all depend on if Parkinson signs a replacement in time.

I hope he's not being paid more than Moore was or it makes no sense.

Is the Mark Howard who is Bolton's first choice the same as the clown that came on loan to us from Arsenal at the same time as Gilbert?

He was truly shocking for us :o
