Cardiff City Open Talks With Ben Amos

Cardiff City have set their sights on Ben Amos, after being granted permission to discuss terms with the Bolton goalkeeper.

After a successful loan spell at Macron Stadium, Amos joined Wanderers on a free transfer from Manchester United in July 2015 and has gone on to make a total of 53 appearances for the club.

Despite being the regular first-choice between the sticks last season, the 26-year-old has served as backup to summer arrival Mark Howard in the early stages of this campaign, with his only outing coming in the 4-2 extra-time defeat at Blackpool in the EFL Cup.

Amos has three years remaining on his contract, but with wages said to be amongst the highest at the club, he has been given license to hold talks over a move to the Welsh capital.

Speaking to Tower FM, Bolton boss Phil Parkinson said: "Ben Amos is talking to another club today. So whether that progresses or not, we'll find out in the next few hours.

"If he goes, it's come a bit late in the day, but we'll have to work towards getting towards another goalkeeper in.

"But with the fact that he hasn't been in the team at the start of the season, and obviously the saving we could make on his wages, we're hoping to use that in other areas."
