UPDATED: MACHEDA TALKS

Mon Aug 22, 2016 11:38 am

Cardiff City forward Federico Macheda’s proposed move to Serie A side Pesacara is in danger of collapsing, according to claims inthe Italian media. The 24-year-old looks surplus to requirements with the Championship side, and has been linked with a move back to his home country in the past week.

TMW have revealed talks have stalled between Pescara and Cardiff City with regards to Macheda signing for the Italian side before the transfer window closes, stating things are frozen. Pescara are keen to bring in a forward after their star player Gianluca Lapadula joined AC Milan earlier in the window.

However, it’s been claimed a deal is now looking very unlikely, and subsequently Pescara are looking other alternatives.

Macheda has never been able to rediscover the form he showed in his first season with Manchester United, when he scored vital goals to help the club win the Premier League title. The forward has had several loan spells with a number of clubs, including Nottingham Forest last season.

Cardiff City are keen to offload the player, but it seems a move to Pescara isn’t going to happen.

Can't see the problem being our clubs fault but I think this will directly have an influence on our ability to get some quality through the door.

My guess is that the problem may be the amount we might be prepared to continue to contribute to his ridiculous wages or alternatively the amount we are prepared to pay him to go away. I can't believe we are holding out for a fee. It may just be , of course, that the Italians have realised he is useless.

To be honest I think he only has 9 months with us to go
£30k a week over 9 months is about £1 million
Surely we can sort something out say 50 % to go now
He would be free to negotiate a new deal else where on a free

That's my take on it as well...they have probably realised he is a gutless, useless waste of space

Well done Solskjear for yet another complete transfer flop...most inept manager we have ever employed

Disappointing news if true.

If we can't get rid of Macheda and Le Fondre by next week and we're stuck with them do you think we'll actually play them or will we never see them in a first team City shirt again?

the club are rightly taking a hard-line with them, I guess that might be reevaluated after the window closes

Seems it may be off completely now:

"GFFN (Got French Football News) has received photo confirmation of the signature of French attacker Jean Christophe Bahebeck on loan from PSG to Italian side Pescara.

Pescara have an option to buy the player during the loan spell."
