Can anybody think of a football club that's gone out of business? All the crisis clubs of the past seem to still be around Bradford pa Workington barrow Darlington Hereford Newport Portsmouth etc.

Merthyr had to be renamed.

I'm not worried financially about the future as we are in better shape now than for the last 20 years with tan writing the debt off but I worry we are just treading water this season which will be a waste of a season again the fans know what we need a striker, midfielder and a wing back and it's frustrating that we can't get these till the deadwood get removed

Rushden have just reformed, but it could be different for us. All those sides are back in the pyramid system.
We could be facing Welsh League.
Not that most fans want to admit it, but thanks to Tan we don't have to worry about that any more.

Newport and Merthyr were renamed and relegated to the bottom of the pyramid system. Newport might now be called 'County' but for 10 years they played as 'AFC' and even now they are a completely different club to the one that ran from 1910-89.
If you think we lost 'identity' with the colour change of our home kit, then being called Cardiff AFC and playing in a League which is below the standard of the Welsh Premiership would drive a coach and horses through our identity.

Newport went out of business before the League of Wales was formed but along with Merthyr and Colwyn Bay successfully fought off an attempt to merge them into the LoW. Merthyr more recently have succeeded in staying in the English system after going out of business.
Nothing is definite but the precedence is there to keep us in the English system.

Don't worry about the future, just do your best. Emmet Brown worried about it but he eventually met his wife Clara and had two lovely children, Jules and Verne. If you behave like Biff though, you should definitely worry about the future, avoid manure and don't lose sports almanacs.

Merthyr were reformed as town from Tydfil but as far as l know that was a choice made, they have no money to recruit yet they are only two divisions away from the conference they have done this on crowds of 500 average imagine what a reformed Cardiff club could do ,fan owned, run sensibly with crowds far bigger than Merthyr ive witnessed a small part of their journey and it's far more satisfying and exciting for me than anything Cardiff have achieved since Tan became involved I would certainly return and l expect many more as well if Cardiff went on that journey
