A bit of a farce with the ticket office.
My Father has been a season ticketholder since the early 70s and he got his mate into City during early 2000’s, his mate has been a season ticket holder since the stadium was built sitting next to my Father, anyway my Father paid for his season ticket early on and his mate decided to do it via finance, a few days before the QPR game he went down to collect his card as he wasn’t sent it in the post, he was told by the girl on the desk he didn’t have a season ticket, he said he was paying by finance, they said the direct debit didn’t collect 1st payment, she apologised as they didn’t call him nor write to him, he was fuming, the girl told him she would try to resolve but couldn’t allocate his chosen seat because it had been sold to somebody else, at that point my Father’s mate asked to speak with the manager, he came out being all cocky, saying it was sold to some other guy because the direct debit didn’t collect, the manager then said a letter was sent and a call made to no avail at which point Father’s mate said he wasn’t contacted as the girl told him so, Manager then started kicking off at the girl for being truthful, Father’s mate then told him to shut it and learn some respect / manners as the girl had been more helpful, turns out the ticket was sold to some guy who’s bought it for 6 games, Father’s mate not happy at which point was told he could still have ticket if he pays for it now, Father’s mate did so, and was then told he would need to kick the guy out of the seat if he turns up, Father’s mate said that’s shocking and suggested they write to the guy to re-arrange seat, Manager said we wouldn’t then walked into backroom, girl was apologetic, needless to say, shambolic showing by someone who is meant to be representing the City brand.
Father’s mate turned up to Blackburn game, had to inform guy about this, who wasn’t happy but understood and will be taking it up with the office.

Just sit in the next seat along, or the row behind?

A small thing maybe but for the last 2 games they have not sent me my tickets in the post despite charging me for postage and I bought the tickets weeks before.
When I politely asked how come they hadn't been sent out I was greeted with nothing more than a errghh and a shrug.
I have always found the ticket office to be pretty shit to be honest with you apart from one lad I spoke to once, no people or customer service skills whatsoever.
In regards to the OP they did the same to a friend of mine last season, luckily the other person was understanding and happy to move.

I have heard some bad things about the current finance company (who ever they are) from colleagues in work, mainly about not receiving finance because of adverse information, & other things.
I never had any problems myself in the past when, for a few years running, Zebra finance were managing the 0% season ticket finance.

They are not great to be honest...went to buy a ticket for my son for the QPR game the girl serving me was ok but the guy next to her was playing a game on his phone while constantly talking to her while she was sorting out my ticket..
He obviously didn't want to be there, I know this is a temporary job for most in there but they are still representing the club so it's not great

The guy that came out to talk to you is not the office manager, that would be Mona, she has been the manager there for a long time
