" Whats your expectation level this season? "
Is managing City right now a definite hiding to nothing?? Theoretically the only way you could prove its not is if a manager came in did everything bang on and suceeded. How do you measure success though? Its all a matter of expectation so if your expectation is making the play off's then thats your measure of succcess.
Can you imagine being the manager? I think Trollope has got a mountain to climb to win over the fans especially when some will settle for nothing less than a win every game!
With the competion in the league this year and the situation were in now you have to argue that top six is a tall order and would be a great acheivement. Im thinking a decent result would be top ten, top six would be a fantastic acheivement, to win
the playoff's would be an incredible acheivement and to win the league would be a legendary acheivement!
Lets face it after what Leicester did last season you cant rule anything out but its plain to see that Trollope will only keep the fans happy if we are challenging for the top six and that is going to be tough! If we drift into mid table many fans will turn their backs on the club and vote with their feet and if we end up in a relegation battle who knows what will happen.
My expectation
I think Trollope will come good and we will get better and better with some reasonable reinforcements and finish top ten. I think it is a bit unreasonable to expect top six this season and we shouldnt expect it as a given, just a nice bonus. Im just trying to keep my feet on the ground and look at things objectively. We are a work in progress and these things take time, you have to cut him some slack.
I am a runner and I never go into an event thinking im going to do great, I go out and enjoy the competition and sometimes I am pleasently suprised. My best period of success was when I was actually struggling with an injury but still managed to win a bronze on a 10 mile muti terrain race shortly followed by a Welsh Athletics national bronze cross country medal. I entered to enjoy it giving my all but not expecting anything which is a good mindset to have in any competition.
I think unrealistic expectations can be crippling to you phycologically! Im a long way from my best so my target to hit a PB is March because that is realistic and there is no preasure on me. If I aimed to do it by the end of the year as I have done in the past it would be totally counter productive.
Have you heard teams recently saying they just go out and enjoy it? Do any spring to mind? (Wales, Leicester)
Whats your expectation this season?

In all honesty, I would reluctantly accept top 10. That is not a tall order in a manager's first season. Any lower and questions will need to be asked. I think the real goal should be top six though. I think we are capable of that.

I think somewhere between 12th and 15th for me. I would'nt be disappointed with that as that will mean us ensuring Championship football again next season. I have no idea how Trollope will do here. I hope he is a success but my concern is he has already been sacked by Bristol Rovers, and was part of the structure which underwhelmed us last season. I know fans blame Slade entirely for that, but the same fans say Trollope played his part in Wales' success. If he did, surely he must have had some input to what went on here last season. Time will tell, but it will take him more than a season to turn things around completely. We are definitely "work in progress" for a while yet.

I dont expect much this season because i genuinly believe the club are sorting things out and starting from scratch regarding players. I think we will bring in another 2 possibly 3 which includes a loan..
Its a good championship this season with some big clubs so if we finish around 10th or better i'll be happy aslong as the season after we keep slowly building the squad

With Slade's assistant as manager I expect lower half of the table around Christmas time then a slide into oblivion going forward

I honestly think we are looking 12-16 without a goal scorer. scares me to death to think freddy and zohore are our two going into a season.

6 weeks ago in just the second post you made on here you said what a fantastic coaching set up we've got and why couldn't we have done this 12 months ago! Now two games in you're saying 'Slade's assistant' as you refer to him now will take us into oblivion.
Typical from some of our lot though, the most impatient fans in the country by miles.

I was talking about our new manager. You obviously cannot read as well as write.
