Cardiff City boss Paul Trollope has no problem with home fans booing team after QPR defeat

Monday 15th August 2016

BY PHIL SMITH

The Bluebirds only managed one shot on target during what was a frustrating game

Trollope was left frustrated by QPR's late burst

Paul Trollope said had understood the frustrations of the Cardiff City faithful after watching their team fall to a limp 2-0 defeat against QPR on Sunday afternoon.

A smattering of boos broke out around Cardiff City Stadium at the end of a game in which the hosts mustered just one shot on target.

However, the new Head Coach was unperturbed by the response and recognised the importance of a big reaction against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night.

He said: “We've lost the game, we've lost the first home game, everyone comes with a high expectation, we put a high expectation on ourselves, and we went in with a really positive attitude to try and win the game.

"It wasn't to be and people were entitled to their opinion and voiced it at the end. I've been around football for a long time and I know the score, little things make big differences in football matches.

“The crowd were terrific, there were a few boos at the end but I can understand why, we've been beaten in the first home game of the season but the support through the game was good, and they could appreciate what we were trying to do, particularly in the first half.

“It's up to us as a group, the players, the staff, myself to make sure there's a real positive mentality about the team and make sure we get on the front foot, the fans will follow that lead.

“We're all bitterly disappointed but football does give you a quick chance to bounce back, another home game, we know we'll have to be brave and positive, which will be the message to the players.”

Pretty good article from Paul Trollope but I thought (Canton Stand and Vince's drum apart) it was one of the worst atmospheres I've seen for some time (and we've seen a few bad ones recently)

The QPR fans were right behind their team but I can't say the same about far too many of ours at the moment :(

Never understand why you would boo your own team.

I think just silence would be a better way of showing displeasure rather than actively booing the team at the end of the game.

The place was like a ghost town by the time the final whistle came anyway.

Totally agree David, Booing them for me is wrong, its the start of the season, at he matches City fans need to create an atmosphere and get right behind them :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Yes well said from Trollope :thumbright: :thumbright:

Chris, I hate hearing that other fans are getting behind our team and our fans are not.

I sit in Ninian 114 and lots were booing. And I'm talking men in 40s 50's and 60s or so not kids. What made me laugh most were some of these guys were saying that they been to Birmingham and Bristol etc before the game top supporters etc. Knobs

The team were applauded at half-time as it was a decent attacking/possessive display but obviously no end product and I thought it was only a matter if time before we scored. Not so. There were a few boos at full-time which I really don't like plus people leaving en masse which is another thing I don't care for. I was expecting a bit more this season and I think the fans frustrations are from the concern that we may not have progressed from the latter stages of last season in terms of plenty of dynmaic but still the general inability to score goals based on what we have seen so far. It has to improve as I can honestly see more folks not attending. The Canton sounded great yesterday but the general situation in addressing the lack of atmosphere is something that needs to be near the very top of Ken's to-do list.

I know what u r saying but whose stopping u doing a good job?

in football there could be a plan to say attack down the left because the opponents right back is the weak link. but then the other team have already thought about it and played 2 defensive players on the left which means our left winger then has a poor game because he couldn't get past them both. so there is a difference. someone is trying to stop them having a good game.

Well that Trollope's job to sort out - perhaps the boo's were for his lack of ideas.

On the other hand, it could just be that the players we have try hard, but are not very good.

Or both.

If Trollope doesn't think its a problem, an even bigger problem exists.

I think it was harsh to be booing already. Also the Qpr fans wernt that loud. Only the last ten minutes or so when they knew they'd won!

Annis, at home it's getting embarrassing when the awe support are laughing at us (as good as the QPR guys were as a bunch)

Respect to Caulker for not celebrating his goal, too! :ayatollah:

Sven this is all relative..with away fans taking the piss...from where I was in the Canton apart from the last 10 minutes after they scored I thought the QPR fans were dreadful..couldn't even hear them for 80 minutes..and to be honest I thought the noise from the Canton was decent..not brilliant but ok.

Maybe it's something to do with the acoustics in the stadium but I honestly didn't hear anything from QPR for virtually all the game

I sit in the Grange and QPR were very quiet all game until they scored. I could see that the Canton were singing and even when its loud, it doesn't really transmit to the other side of the ground.

I will admit, I booed them. The start to the season hasn't been good enough and Trollope has been here long enough to settle in.

They haven't once looked like scoring so they didn't deserve my support and booing seemed to be the only way to give the players a message that they need to be better for the amount most of them earn a week!

Was embarrassing the booing... How fickle our fans are.. Put more effort into supporting the team and help create an atmosphere.
Mind you, Apr fans very quiet for an away lot, which suprised me.
