Wez is there a any chance of keeping someone when club like man c come calling , suspect there is more to it than simply leaving us for them .

I know this is from the other forum, but from what I've read here, he seems a massive loss with unlimited potential. A striker with frightening speed and brilliant ball control who effortlessly stepped into our under 18's recently as a 15 year old!

Unfortunately, clubs like us remain powerless to keep our best youngsters from the big clubs like Man City. Money talks and no doubt his parents have been buttered up with promises of a new house, new car etc. :(

Need to put youself in his position as well. You can hardly compare a club like Man C to our club. Every youngster dreams of playing for one of the big clubs. We will always find it difficult to keep our most talented players, Ramsey being a perfect example.

Ramsey only left us because we needed the money to stop us going under, that's why we only sold him for 4.2 million with no sell on clause, Arsenal offered all the money up front and that 4.2 million saved our club.

It seemed the boy was developing nicely for us, making great progress. He is now in massive danger of going from a stand out youngster with us to just another youngster at Man City. There's obviously more competition in Man City's youth team for regular games, causing an increased risk of his potential stagnating through lack of game time and experience. The move is a huge gamble at his age.

We always need the money for something, and nearly every quality young player I have seen here starting with Toshack has been sold as soon as one of the bigger clubs come in with a decent offer. I can assure you Ramsey would'nt have been here long irrespective of our financial situation at the time.

You're probably correct, but we definitely wouldn't have sold Ramsey on the cheap and I like to think we would have definitely demanded a sell on clause.

He would have gone for a lot more money if we were'nt skint at the time, but he would still have gone. Look at the players who have gone in fairly recent times as soon as a bigger club come calling - Collins, Gabbidon, Blake, Delaney, Ramsey. These are just a few who spring to mind, I am sure you can think of plenty more. My memory is'nt what it used to be. We have for the most part always been a selling club, and have never been able to hang on to our top players for as long as I have been a fan.

I don't disagree but the one thing Tan has changed since arriving is allowing us to keep our best players. I know we are offloading players now because they're on high wages and in the last years of their contracts; but not being able to keep hold of what seems a very promising youngster is very disappointing.

Rented house and a job for the dad I believe. Difficult to turn down by the family even if their footballing preference for their son was to stay at Cardiff

Man Cirys pursuit of this lad has been relentless.

This lad is a top top player. Man City will pay us £12k for each season he's been in our academy, so approx £100k :bluebird:

Right, so a talented academy prospect leaving for one of the richest clubs in World football is no longer newsworthy, because it might upset fans?

My son knows this lad, he is super super talented. His brothers at Newport County. Man City have chased him for the past 18 months. He is super excited to be moving to such a big club. Remember his name, he will be playing in the Welsh team within 3 years, he is a fantastic prospect. Cardiff had no chance of hanging on to him, he's way way to good for second tier football. I'm surprised the Jacks didn't try and get him. But his heart was set on Man City as soon as they came sniffing. We will get the statutory £12k per season that he's been in our academy from Man City :bluebird:

Agreed, this wouldn't have happened if we managed to establish ourselves in the Premiership. Until we become an established Premiership team, our good youngsters are going to get poached.
