Not sure we can replace him from the players we have as he was tenacious and pacey and played with real grit.

Can we get someone in? Depends if tan can be bothered to finally throw some money in.

Im still really bitter about this. Seems every time we get a decent player in that the kids warm to we bloody sell them. My son adored him.

It's been said on the forum that our youth and Declan John in particular deserve a chance to show what they can do, so give him a go.

Don't see why everyone is blaming the club! Middlesbrough met his clause and the player was very keen on the move, that was stated by Trollope!

He was in his last year and wanted to play premier league football! You cannot blame Fabio or the club I'm afraid.

Back to the OP, Declan will do a cracking job this season, Dec is in his last year also so I'd be happier if the club sorted a new deal out for him personally as Fabio wants premier league football and is as good as gone.

That's where we're are playing and where Fabio is heading in case you haven't noticed.

Everyone on this forum was moaning because Declan was not being used now because he's been given his chance that's wrong as well?

The club can never do right in some people's eyes.

Dec is not in his last year. His contract runs to summer 2017.

My mistake, thought it was this year. Still if he's going to be a regular it wouldn't hurt to sign him up.

I meant to say his contract runs to summer 2018.

But I agree the club should extend it asap - not wait until he becomes another in the last year.

I must have read it wrong. I thought he was in his last year, according to that you're right 2018.

I would keep Delan at left back i thought he played well tonight
Give him an extended run in the team and watch him improve
With regards Fabio as he was one of our key players for the future why didn't we offer him an improved contract long term
To me that shows lack of ambition
We should have at least tried to keep him
It's going to be a long hard season unless we get an experienced striker
As city supporters we should be used to it by now

No news any where to say he has joined Middlesbrough.

For me, as an outright player - there is a huge gulf in class. However, we didn't see Fabio as a regular so in that case the argument is lessened.

Declan is way better than Fabio, far more composed on the ball and has far more pace. With £2m in the bank its a win win situation for me. Good luck to Fabio though - a very decent person even if he was a bit erratic on the pitch.
