Paul Trollope on stepping down from Wales role

It wasn’t easy, it was a decision I made a while ago. I enjoyed a fantastic year, to come in midway through the campaign and enjoy that, get over the line and then the wonderful experience of the summer, but personal and professional, was one I’d never forget. But with the change of role here I didn’t want to compromise Cardiff or Wales.

With the demands of the Championship I decided to put all focus and energy into Cardiff. It’s tough because there’s a wonderful thing happening there but it was the right decision. We had discussions and that was the decision I came to. I got a lot out of it, all your experiences form part of what you are and who you are and that will have an influence. I can’t say it will be the influence because I’ve had so many, even as a player, but it was a great experience to be involved in and the level of the competition was something never experienced before so it was great exposure.
