£4 million for a striker - really !!

I keep reading posts that if we sell Fabio for £2 mill then it should be spent on a striker, and then again today if we sell Gunnerson for £2 mill also we should spend this on a striker or as some say a 20 goal a season striker !

Can anyone tell me who or which 20 goals a season striker you can get nowadays for £4 million let alone 2 ??

I think some fans are setting themselves up to be disappointed IMO

I'm liking what I'm seeing and hearing from the club under Trollope, but we have to understand that whilst Slade steadied the ship then Trollope has to restructure whilst maintaining at least last years performance, and all the time having to cut the wage bill.

So please tell me of a 20 goal a season striker/forward that we can realistically sign ?

Would also be interested on who you think we could get in on loan that could also provide 20 goals a season, as this again IMO is our only option, or should we simply give Fred & Zed a chance ?

I very much doubt we will spend 1million on one let alone 4million we already been told people need to leave before some come in and again the cost cutting is carrying on this season like the club have said so what would be the point in selling players to cost cut then spending it all on one player ( not that this will happen anyway ).....defeats the object of the cost cutting in the first place

I agree. I even read someone say 5-6 million!
It's never going to happen. Besides, this mysterious 4 million quid player would come with a bigger wage bill than 5 grand a week or whatever we are paying our new recruits these days.

If your talking about Grabban at Bournemouth then he has never scored 20 in a season (came close a couple of times) and also has a bad attitude by all accounts (aka Norwich)

5 players at the club on 25k a week.
Release these saves 6.5 mill a season.
19.5 over three years.
Over 3 years that's a lot of money which potentially could be used on a striker.
If we re invest a quarter ,this could be the difference.

My mistake, he has scored 20 goals twice, once for Rotherem in 2012 if you inc all comes and also for Bournemoth in 2014

He is on £29k a week currently.

Cardiff will never spend £4 Mil, we haven't got that type of cash. Tan will want both transfer fees back in Malasia. May be £250k on a player if we are very very lucky

Nugent cost Borough 5m just last summer.

I think our best bet of getting someone in of real quality is a loan for a striker whos almost breaking into one of the top prem sides.

Johnny Russell would cost a good deal less than 4 million. I'm sure he'd get near that figure given a good run in the Cardiff side.

This administration have given up on big transfers, partly because of the financial waste on prev seasons catching up with them, and partly because they fear future failures in purchasing players with high transfer values in the TM

We still need to make cut backs as the club have said so can't see us selling and then using all the funds again, where are the cut backs with that?

How much do we think Cambell would be sold for I'd love to get him back here not that I'm expecting us to spend more than 1mill at most in the rest of this window.
