TRANSFER LATEST

09/08/16

Saido Berahino - We understand West Brom are desperate to bring in a striker before the start of the season - thereby allowing Berahino to discuss a move away from the Hawthorns. Stoke have a £20m bid on the table - but they are likely to focus on other targets if this saga rumbles on.

Man City trio - Eliaquim Mangala, Wilfried Bony and Samir Nasri are missing from City's squad list for the forthcoming Champions League play-off game and we understand City are willing to listen to offers for all three players.

Totaliser - Premier League spending is now approaching £800m. We are on course for the first £1billion spend in a transfer window.

TRANSFER LATEST

It's been a rather busy day, so let's just quickly run through where we are at with all the big transfer stories.

Paul Pogba and John Stones are done deals. Signed and sealed.

Ashley Williams - Everton have agreed a £12m fee with Swansea for their captain. He's expected on Merseyside this afternoon ahead of signing a two-year contract.

Lamina Kone - Kone is on Merseyside ahead of a potential move to Everton. However, while there have been claims a bid of £18m has been placed, Sunderland are denying any offer has been received. It's been suggested an agreement was in place to improve Kone's contract when Sam Allardyce was in charge but David Moyes' arrival has shifted priorities and a new offer has not been forthcoming. Furthermore, Moyes wants reinforcements first before allowing anyone to leave.

Borja Baston - Swansea have agreed a club record fee with Atletico Madrid for striker Baston. The fee could rise to £17m.

Christian Benteke - Sky sources tell us Crystal Palace are in talks with Liverpool over signing the Belgium international. We are told Liverpool will not accept anything less than the £32.5m they paid Aston Villa last summer. Palace are keen to get a deal over the line before their opening game of the season against West Brom.
