" ONE OR TWO COMING IN & GOING OUT SAYS "

Mon Aug 08, 2016 9:42 am

Paul Trollope

“We are still trying to add one or two new faces and maybe one or two going out as well.
“With the emergency loan window no longer at our disposal, I think it will be a busy three weeks for a lot of people.
“A lot of clubs will be in the same situation. There will be a lot of movement.
“I’ve got a real good feel about the group and what we’re capable of.
“We know it’s a strong division with some big clubs in, but if we can add in a few areas we think we could compete.”

I agree with Trollope on this one.

All we need is a goalscorer and quick winger and we could be right up there.

With Fabio going as well as ALF, Dikajoi and Macheda there should be at least some money to invest from the fees and, in particular, the wages so let's see exactly how ambitious the club is this year.

The money we'll save from Fabio's wages, as well as the transfer fee, should go towards bringing in a new striker. But there's a big difference between should and will.

We all know we can't afford to bring anyone else in until a couple of players have gone. That's good to know, as we know the club are watching the finances and financial fair play - we don't want a repeat of last year.

But I think it's important we bring in a striker who will score goals. I think Gounongbe will be an important player for us, but he shouldn't be used as our main goalscoring threat.

Possibly a new wide player with pace as well.

But, like I say, it probably won't happen until Fabio, Le Fondre and Macheda have gone.

We're not playing with wingers though we're playing with wing backs. If one of them gets injured now we're guna be playing someone out of position we've got no cover in that area.

"If we could add in a few areas we think we could compete". At least our manager is honest enough to say what many of us have been saying for the last couple of months. If we are to compete toward the top end of this league we need to strengthen in particular areas, and we all know that scoring goals is one of the big problems we will have with the players who are here. Trollope is obviously not living an a world of fantasy, and I am sure he knows that the current squad will not be in the promotion battle without the addition of a bit of quality.
I don't think we are a million miles away, and some clever wheeling and dealing may make all the difference. Quite a few other clubs are in a similar position, so I guess it may come down to which manager can be clever enough with the limited resources available.

Depending on how much we have to spend I would love to get Nahki Wells here.

How much is he worth tho wez do u rekon? Surely he won't come much cheaper than 3m in today's climate? He was top scorer a year or two ago. I can't see us being able to spend anywhere near that even if Fabios transfer is 2.5m

I think you will find that supporters have been pointing out lack of pace and a natural goalscorer for a lot longer than a few weeks,to no avail I'm sorry to say

It was a problem all last season as well, but some posters still predict promotion or play offs for us. I doubt if even Trollope believes that we will be serious promotion contenders unless we can add some genuine quality to our attack.

I have a feeling either Macheda or Le Fondre will still be here.
