Not playing against a certain team in contract

Mon Aug 08, 2016 8:39 am

All the rumours about Jazz possibly have in a clause in his contract he will not play against Swansea .Well I don't have an issue with this at all I don't think if I was a pro footballer I could play against Cardiff.
I do know a Cardiff fan and a pro footballer who retired many years ago who told me on many occasions that he had the chance to play against Cardiff in 6 occasions and
Once he was actually injured and could not
Three times he pretended to have an injury
Twice he played against us and could not put in the effort

He stated he just could not do it The two occasions he played his team won and drew against us . Some may guess who the player is but I will not say . In those days players were not paid millions either.

Now if Jazz ends playing well for us and puts his hands up and says I may not have the attitude you need for the Swansea game I think that is a brave thing to do .

Think of someone like Phil Dywer could he have played against us and give 100% I am not sure he could

As long as he doesn't mind forfeiting his salary.

Oh for fucks sake. He's a Cardiff City player either give 100%, 100% of the time or f**k off. Against Swansea or anyone else.

Today's players have a job to do. They're professional and on bloody good money, so I would fully expect any of them to play against whoever they face next and put a shift in. As a fan of many years I would be majorly disappointed with any player who would feign injury to get out of a football match he could/should play in! :(

Giggs was good example of that but I doubt even he had it in his contract that he never played Wales friendlies!

I doubt Jazz Richards has such a 'clause' in his contract (he's not a 'loan' player) and your OP is really just another clutching attempt at stirring a pot that is already boiling over!

If I was playing at professional level for another club or play against anyone I had to, it happens all the time on football it doesn't mean you love the club any more or less.

Ok last game of the season Cardiff lose and they go out of the league into the conference Last minute of the game you have the chance to win the game and send city down if you put in 100% effort and you run your arse off and get to the ball by throwing yourself to nudge the ball over the line. There is nothing on the game for your team but you end up sending Cardiff down and the goal means Swansea stay up
I can tell you I would not get to the ball

I could and I would give my all. I would play the game of my life, trying to impress Cardiff enough to sign me! (I wouldn't score though!)

Most modern footballers care more about their salaries and lifestyle rather than the actual club they represent. They should always give 100% whatever, it's what they are being paid for. The club I played for from under 14's and eventually at senior level in the lower divisions of the Welsh League dropped me into the seconds. I had the chance to play for another team in the same league, and if anything I tried even harder against my old mates as I felt I had something to prove. I think most players will try their hardest whoever the opposition is as it's in everyone's nature to want to look good when you are as competitive as most sportsmen tend to be.

100% yes, I could and I believe any reasonable fan/person could understand that, too! ;)

It's those who slate and disrespect their former clubs clubs and find that get my goat; not the ones who have moved on to new pastures. Did Rambo or Earnie refuse to play against City? No, and Ramsey tore us a new one when he came back...and the fans loved him for it (a little too much on the day in my opinion) so I don't see the issue :ayatollah:
