Declan John finally given his chance


Baptism of fire for Declan John, but the youngster stands tall


Declan John of Cardiff City yesterday against Birmingham City.

John would probably not have started the season but events with Fabio seem to have moved quickly and the youngster was given a big chance.

He enjoyed a great battle with David Cotterill and will have given great encouragement to the staff and the fans.

He was a real threat going forward and should have had an assist when Gounongbe turned his cross over the bar.

John can go to ground too easily however and that is a danger for any defender. Overall, however, a positive return to the first-team environment.

Great to see him back in the first team

Thought he did pretty well, judging by commentary at least. Seems to get a lot of crosses in, anyway.

Credit to the lad even when he went out on loan, he played well and deserves his place.

Looked a lot more comfortable and assured than he did in his previous run; particularly on his forages forward

He will never be a defender his talent is in another area . Hopefully the new formation will help him flourish and bring his undoubted talent to the fore .
He can not play at the back in a 4 4 2 but a 3 5 2 is made for him

Great to see him doing well, he is not a defender been saying that long enough and his family are true City supporters be a pleasure seeing them back as he been treated shit by Slade even when we played silly cup games he was never played
