Lack of a decent striker cost us today

Sat Aug 06, 2016 8:13 pm

For the first half we were certainly much the better team but the lack of a decent striker cost us and my worry is that if we can't find someone to put the ball in the net on a regular basis we will struggle to get anywhere near the top six.

Freddy's miss was an absolute shocker - my granny could have scored that and she's been dead 20 years.

Pilkington had a decent chance which he tried to lob but put straight into the keeper's hands and Zohore didn't offer much threat at all.

You can make excuses for all of them to be fair - Freddy is palying in his first competitive game at this level, Pilks is NOT a striker and is being asked yet again to play a role which is not natural to him, and Zohore only comes on late in the game and has to try to make an instant impact.

But I can't help that feel that with a decent striker we could have won that game today quite comfortably.

I got a feeling we will bring someone in over the couple of weeks.

Rydog, you "had a feeling" that Saadi was going to be a massive success for us so I'll take your latest "feeling" with a very large pinch of salt!

Hopefully too many games wont have passed before we bring in a striker. It could cost us otherwise with lack of goals and points.

got to agree with you I think we are only one player away from having a very strong 1st team capable of getting promotion, we need a 20 goal a season striker ,Lewis grabham on loan would fit the bill

Got to agree...with all this a Jazz nonsense going on we are missing the real talking point that we are desperately short of strikers

What I have seen (admittedly not much) of Freddy and Zahore they are not the answer, back up maybe but not first choice

A top class striker is a priority but they cost £millions and I will not be holding my breath but without one I don't think we got any chance of a "serious " promotion bid
