AMBITION!

Tue Aug 02, 2016 4:18 pm

I dont care about alf and macheda wether they go or not, yes in an ideal world they need to go but the club are saying their ambition is promotion well time to stop joking with the fans and show ambition and sign a good striker we are crying out for! We are one good striker away from being a very good team and real promotion contenders, fork out and get us that one player which could earn millions and millions of premier league riches, im sorry but one striker on a transfer fee or a loan deal is not breaking the bank because we have spent hardly f**k all this season or last season either.

Totally disagree, in my opinion we should only be getting a striker if we can afford one. We have had years of spending beyond our means. Glad we at last being run properly.

From what I see Gounongbe has looked decent, people are moaning that we need a striker, we've got him in so why not try giving the lad a chance.

Just because he's not a 'name' it doesn't mean he's not any good.

There is one thing being prudent but reducing the debt needs to be balanced with providing the paying public with a squad capable of getting promotion/ winning things or playing attacking attractive football. Our current squad can do neither. If the club do not provide that spark of excitement then fans will keep eroding away.

When was the last time that the club provided that spark and spent a 1m plus on a quality player? It's well over 18 months. The club cannot survive by picking up the floating freebies. It's clear to everyone that we gave not had a decent striker for some considerable time. Just look at the stats. I have no doubt that had we had a proven goal scorer last season then we would have been in the play offs. How long before fans have had enough and walk away saying  .

How can Cardiff City compete with the spending power of Newcastle, Norwich, Villa, Derby, Wednesday and even this season Leeds, Brighton and Bristol City?

Im glad the club are not blowing massive amounts and the debt is being cleared but you if you show zero ambition and dont strengthen whatsoever then the club will go backwards aswell as a result. Im not asking the club to go out and make a shit load of signings and spent a lot of money, im asking we invest money in 1 single player (a quality striker) for a club aiming for promotion to the premier league compared to a lot of clubs aiming for the same in this division this season that is not a lot.

If the club are happy cutting costs then accept mid table again same as fans accepting no investment then you should accept mid table, BUT if the club are saying their ambition is promotion then they need to back it up and invest at least some money in 1 quality player we are crying out for, ccfc need to practice what they preach and stop lying to the fans

The club will always say that they are targeting promotion whilst their actions would tend to suggest that either they are not really serious or that they are really just crossing their fingers and hoping for a miracle to happen.

Football clubs (and not just CCFC) have been bullshitting their fans for years.

It is ridiculous that we aren't signing a decent striker

We are 1 signing away from probably securing a play off place we just need a decent striker who has been proven in this league ie campbell or Bamford or James Wilson

Football is not an exact science and spending £3m on ALF proves money alone doesn't buy success.

Exactly, look how much Derby splashed out last season, where did it get them?! More Championship football that's where.

We should be showing a little bit more if we want to go for the play offs if fraizer campbell is avaliable imo we should be doing all we can to sign him we struggled last season because we lacked a striker and signing 1 division 2 belgium striker to me isn't solving the problem I think we should be going for someone who we know scores goals

Don't know if our manager is interested in him, doubt if the club would be prepared to spend money on buying him, and I don't believe that promotion is the club's priority this season.

It's probably not but I don't think they should hype it up so much going on about how play offs are our main priority etc

Exactly mate. Going out and securing someone like wilson, bamford, campbell, vydra, grabban on loan for the season paying their wages and putting up a signing on loan fee not millions of pounds but like 1million is at least showing a bit of ambition.

With the squad we have I expect us to be competitive, automatic promotion will be out of our reach but challenging for the top 6 should be our aim. I feel a lot more comfortable with us trying to look after our finances than throwing money around like it's going out of fashion. If fans can't understand that and "walk away" because they're craving premier league football then f**k them.

i agree but the club constantly say they are lookingto push on then dont back itup with any decent signings, im glad we landed immers and fred and zahore but i dont think we have the striker with the pace required to threaten in behind teams and that may be our problem. its part of the reason we are still losing fans, i was watching an old game from ninian park yesterday and there was 20k fans in ninian park, wheres the other 6-7k gone?

Totally agree that money doesn't guarantee success, us as Cardiff City fans will know that very well.

However, we are in desperate need of a striker, unquestionably. Going for a Le Fondre or Macheda for millions of pounds and ridiculous wages is not the way (glad to see the club is trying to get them out).

I would much prefer Bamford, Wilson on loan for this season with an option to buy permanently. :thumbright:
