' FRAIZER CAMPBELL FAVOURITE TO SIGN FOR '

Tue Aug 02, 2016 9:50 am

Bristol City are favourites to sign Frazier Campbell, be disappointing if he went there.

Bet Victor have Bristol City as joint favourites at 4/1 alongside Nottingham Forest to sign the striker.

Campbell is accepting a pay cut to step down to the Championship.

If the club are even pretending to be serious about getting promoted then Campbell is EXACTLY the sort of striker that we have been missing since he left last time.

It may be that he doesn't want to come back but I would be very disappointed if we weren't trying to persuade him to return.

I also think he'd fit the system that Trollope wants to play and surely he has to be a better bet to score 15 to 20 goals than Zohore, Pilkington or the new bloke?

If we're not even enquiring about him then that will be a damning indictment on the club's ambitions for this season.

He jumped ship the first chance he got and he's repeatedly refused to join us. Screw that guy. He's not the only striker we could get that could help us get promoted. Wish our fans would stop fawning over the fraud.

Or Trollope doesn't fancy him.Shouldn't always think the worst. ;)

Of course that's possible but why wouldn't he? A proven goalscorer at this level who when he last played in this division scored the goals we needed to get us over the line and promoted?

Perhaps that may call Trollope's judgement into question?

Can't think that he wouldn't be interested in such a player but he'll live or die by his decision if that's the case.

I just feel that his hands are almost completely tied as far as incoming players are concerned.

Perhaps Tan won't allow him to be signed because of his "Pants up" celebration a few seasons ago!

I'm with you David on this, the perfect player to fit in and exactly what we need if we are to challenge, We are not asking for a lot :bluebird: :ayatollah:

He may be the perfect player but he jumped ship quickly when we went down, maybe the club didn't like that tho ,they do say never go back to a former club

That's not strictly true,

We were relegated, a team bid for him, we accepted the bid and told the player he should leave as we were looking to reduce the wage bill.

Wez, You like me say we need a striker, sometimes you need to put things like that aside and there was much more to it than that. he did a good job for us as well.

Exactly. The club was a mess at the time aswell, a running circus. Who could honestly blame him?

Having just recently had our transfer embargo lifted hasn't it dawned on you that Trollop's hands are probably tied behind his back and therefore we are highly unlikely to be bringing Campbell in or anyone else for that matter until we find a way of getting rid of the remainder of OGS misfits who are continuously having an adverse effect on our resources and hampering our current managers recruitment plans as we adhere to ffp guidelines.

Agree, would be disappointing to see him end up there. Would be bad enough if he joined a Championship side and we didn't even try and get him.

Just what we need right now and could make a huge difference to any hope we have of the top six. We should try and re-sign him.

I know there's the financial side of it, but we should be able to free up the wages of Le Fondre, Macheda and Dikgacoi soon and that will obviously put us in a better position.

Bristol City have acquired well pre season and after last season's failure to sign Andre Gray and Dwight Gayle, would have little problem in getting Campbell.

Bristol City have a decent shout at being the surprise team this season.

At least three games for us against the Bristol clubs this season. Rovers in the league cup, and the Worzels themselves twice in the league.

I know what you mean but I thought the club's position was that we were not actually in breach of the FFP rules last season? I'm sure Ken Choo said at the time that we would be appealing against the embargo although of course that never happened.

Since then we have signed only Freddie who I doubt would be on big wages and we have got rid of Kenwyne's £45,000 plus per week liability. Malone has been swapped for Richards on probably similar wages and Immers was here at the end of last season anyway, as was Zahore.

So I'm sure that if they really wanted to then money could be found for Campbell without breaching FFP but of course what the club is trying to do is cut back on everything and that would mean that, although we may have a better chance of promotion, it would mean the club spending money which they would rather save, thus suggesting that the club is far more interested in saving money than making a genuine attempt at promotion.

It is what it is I suppose.

Don't forget we are still getting parachute payments which will disappear after next season. We therefore need to cut our cloth further unless we suddenly find those missing 20k fans  or find some other income stream.

Bristol C are obviously taking a gamble and if it fails they will face a player embargo and fire sales like we did.

Would love to see him here and have no problem that he left after relegation however hopefully we now have a wage structure in place after the mess of the wage bill we had/have so im more than happy for the club not to sign him if he doesn't fit that structure

TBH I'm fkn fed up of the situation with Macheda and ALF. Those two misfits are keeping us from extending/developing our squad. The Norwegian Gnome has a lot to answer for. The sooner the useless tw@ts are off the books the better.

Agree and also Dikacjoi.

It is maddening because there are definitely goals in those 2 but seemingly not in a City shirt.

Main problem is who is going to pay their wages looking at their performances last season and their fitness.

Almost tempting to buy up their contracts.

People saying we should sign him are the ones who will be moaning about debt again.. I believe this season is about building and learning from past mistakes regarding how the club is run.
Frazier would be a decent signing but is above our wage bill so move on :ayatollah:

Jason, that's exactly what we did last season, but we now how to show a
Little bit of ambition as our fans will drift away even more if we don't.
We are not asking for £millions to be spent, quite the opposite.
