Cardiff City have apologised to Exeter City over the lack of first-team players involved in the preseason friendly.

The game - the Grecians' last preseason friendly - was billed as being against a Cardiff City XI, meaning that, whilst it would not have been the Bluebirds' full-strength side, a few first-team players would still take part.
However, the squad that has traveled from South Wales is primarily an under-21 squad, which is understood to have disappointed members of the Grecians hierarchy.
Cardiff have now apologised for the relatively weak squad in a statement published on City's website.
It read: "I'm afraid it will be our U21 side who travel tonight for which Cardiff City can only apologise as we made the arrangements for it to be a first team fixture in good faith.
"We have a number of first team players like Adam Le Fondre and Federico Macheda who we had expected to play in the game but who have been excluded from the squad."
