" FITNESS OF KEY CITY PLAYERS REMAIN A BIG ISSUE "

By Phil Smith

Media Wales

One element that is out of the Cardiff City's staff control is injury and this is the area where Paul Trollope clearly has the most pressing concerns.

Bruno Manga has experienced muscle soreness over the week and so has not had any match action.

Sean Morrison has been training on the grass after ankle surgery but now has only the Bournemouth game to prove his fitness ahead of the season, while Lee Peltier has only had 45 minutes.

Likewise Jazz Richards and Aron Gunnarsson, whose Euro 2016 exploits meant a half against Vfl Bochum was the best they could manage.

Defence is an area of the pitch where Cardiff have plenty of options but switching to a back three is a major operation and Trollope will not want to send out an inexperienced backline against Birmingham.

Unless some of his senior players can recover in time, that may well be what he is forced to do.

A lot will rest on the shoulders of Matt Connolly and David Marshall to shepherd their team through.

Manga should be sold imo. Last year of contract, seems to have a lot of injuries and will be away with the African boring cup in January again.
Saves money and gives youngsters (our future) a chance.

Half of that is bollocks. Jazz and Gunner have been with their country's all summer with only 2 weeks holiday. I doubt very much they would have lost any fitness, plus they've had an intense week in Germany. They'll be ready to go.

Norms, the new media Wales reporter, Phil Smith has reported it and he was out with them for 10 days in Germany.

I personally put out Gunnarsson is raring and ready to go :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I know you didn't write it mate, I read it earlier in WOL

I think the bit about Gunner and Jazz was a bit far fetched. Wasn't having a dig, maybe I should have worded it better. :ayatollah:

Both cracking ideas, but I think the best one is to offer him a new contract.

Sell the dead wood but keep the core and our best players.
