Everton ready to launch Sigurdsson bid

It is being reported this morning that Everton are set to launch a £25m bid for Swansea’s Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.

New Toffees boss Ronald Koeman is said to be a big fan of the man who was signed permanently from Spurs two years ago.

Barcelona have revealed they were priced out of a move for Paul Pogba.

VARANE TURNS DOWN UNITED MOVE

Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane has rejected the chance to join Man Utd next season, according to reports in Marca.

The Spanish spots daily claims Real boss Zinedine Zidane was the main reason the player opted to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, rather than teaming up again with new United manager Jose Mourinho, who he previously played for in the Spanish capital.

Here’s an update on Sam Allardyce’s future. Sky sources understand an announcement could be made by the FA today about the appointment of Allardyce as the new England manager.

However, negotiations are still ongoing about the amount of compensation Sunderland will receive.

If a decision isn’t reached today, we understand Allardyce could find himself in a tricky situation, whereby he has to travel to the South of France this weekend with Sunderland for training.

He would be in breach of his contract if he didn’t do so.

BAYERN TO BRADFORD?

Bradford have signed 28 year-old German goalkeeper Rouven Sattelmaier on a one-year deal. The former Bayern Munich keeper had recently been on trial at the club.

ENGLAND APPOINT SAM ALLARDYCE

Sam Allardyce has signed an initial two-year deal to become England's new manager, the Football Association has announced.

The 61-year-old boss knew the job was his on Wednesday, but a compensation package with his club Sunderland needed to be finalised before the announcement could be made.

Allardyce, who begins work immediately, said: "I am extremely honoured to be appointed England manager especially as it is no secret that this is the role I have always wanted. For me, it is absolutely the best job in English football."

Nottingham Forest have completed the season-long loan signing of Benfica’s Hildeberto Pereira.

The 20-year-old Portugal youth international plays on the right wing and was a regular for Benfica’s B team last season.

Steve Bruce has left his role as manager of newly promoted Premier League club Hull City.

The 55-year-old, who did not take training on Friday, had said earlier this summer he was uncertain of his future at Hull, who are up for sale.

CLARETS MAKE SECOND BID

Burnley have made a second offer for Derby’s Jeff Hendrick, according to Sky sources.

It’s understood to have been a cash offer, along with the loan of two players – James Tarkowski and Tendayi Darikwa.

Hendrick’s reputation was boosted after impressing at the European Championships, where he represented the Republic of Ireland.

He’s played for Derby since 2011 and has two years left on his contract.

Aston Villa in for ex-Bluebird McCormack

Ross McCormack, the Fulham striker who spent two years with Cardiff City, is being hunted by Norwich and now Aston Villa, the Mail reports.

McCormack moved to Leeds after leaving the Bluebirds, before making an £11m switch to Craven Cottage two summers ago.

GOMIS LOAN MOVE

Bafetimbi Gomis' loan move to French club Marseille is close to being signed, according to L'Equipe.

Swansea and Marseille had struggled to come to an agreement on personal terms regarding Gomis’ wages but they’ve sorted their differences.

It’s reported that Swansea will pay 40% of Gomis' pay packet.
