What happened? All I've heard is that he gestured to the city crowd but I wasn't there

All I could see was him celebrating the goal vigorously with his team mates... Heat of the moment stuff

He was disingenuous to the club when he left for his brief sojourn to the bright lights of North London and he 100% gestured towards the crowd whilst celebrating a goal (not his) on his return to the CCS

I may be wrong here, but I don't remember him getting too much 'stick' up to that point but his arrogance (perceived or otherwise) certainly appears to have changed lots of opinions on him; just as his sudden fame in a Welsh shirt is doing right now! ;) :laughing6:

I've always liked Gunter and would like us to sign him although I don't think it's a position that we need to buy.

Disingenuous to the club?! Disingenuous to Ridsdale and Jones perhaps, but given they had promised him an improved contact for 6 months, that's hardly unexpected. He followed CCFC all over the country and continued to do so when he was on the youth scheme. He continued to turn up at matches when he was at Spurs and our games didn't clash. There was a video between Chris and Vince Alm on youtube, just after he left. The football club meant/means a lot to him.

Whatever he did on the pitch when celebrating a goal, is unfortunately just part and parcel of his game. He's full-blooded and very vocal. Should have he walked away when they scored and not celebrated? Maybe, I don't necessarily agree. But any response to Cardiff fans, I'm sure was pro-Forest rather than anti-Cardiff.

As for not much stick before, there was plenty of taunt's of Cardiff reject amongst others as I remember it.

I'd love to have him back here, but think he's beyond our reaches at the moment.

By default disingenuous to the club just as I said, then

With regard to the taunting, I did state that I might be wrong on the build up, but I was in 117 on the day and not so far away that I couldn't see what happened after they scored their goal. Straight to the corner (where, in fairness, the away fans were) and definite gestures towards the Cardiff fans

That was the first time I noticed the abuse he got and thought he deserved it at that point. Not seen anything since to give him any slack as an opposition player but (as I said) people are suddenly coming out of the old woodwork and jumping to his defence on the back of the big Wales love-in

Not a Dickie Bird prior to that (even though he has been criticised on here more than once prior to his rapid rise to Wales cult hero worship) ;)
