So assuming we'll play Connolly, Manga and Morrison as the three centre halves and two of Jazz/Fabio/John/Pelts as the wing backs. Then we've got Fred/Ken/Immers/Pilks as our attacking options. But, potential new signings aside, who is going to be our first chioce "Ramsey/Allen" combination?
Whitts/O'Keefe/Ralls/Gunnar/Dikgacoi?
Which would you choose?

I cant see peltier being used as a wing back I think hell be playing CB if he's starting I think we need to sign another CM but out of who we currently have I'd play Gunner and O'Keefe.

I would play Gunnar and Whitts I think.
I like Ralls and okeefe.
A good situation to be in.
Aiayi in CB cover is another good option.

I'm inclined to agree with you on the first combo as long as whitts doesn't go missing.

I totally agree about Peltier being more suited as CB cover, which we will need. He is surely not a wingback. That leaves us short of cover in the wingback position. With Jazz now in place, will Fabio play left or right I wonder?
I can't see a role for Noone in the new formation.
Does anyone think that Adeyemi might come good this season? I remember his looking so good on his debut. He looked really promising.

yeah i remember seeing him against huddersfield and thinking we had signed a really good player but he fell away badly, hopefully he can come good in the new formation hes a lot of energy which could benefit us, personally id go for okeefe and ralls as our "ramsey and allen"

I tend to agree that we are likely to use Peltier in the back 3, (he is the best defensive full-back at the club). The likes of John, Fabio and indeed Jazz are better suited to the wig-back role, I do think this set up will achieve two things, a) we will be even more solid defensively however we will have to be aware of teams trying to put the ball in behind the full-back position. b) our attacking options then become more potent with us quickly flooding 5 across the mid-field.
I am a great fan of this system, we have all been screaming out to be more progressive in our setup this is a great step forward. I do believe that whilst we have changed managers we will have the benefit of the lack of upheaval in the club that a change of management often brings!!

I think the squad is shaping up nicely for the 5-2-2-1 formation it looks like Trollope wants to play
Goalkeepers
Marshall
Moore
Centre halves
Manga
Morison
Connolly
Peltier
Ajayi (in case of injuries)
Wing backs
Richards
Fabio (both sides)
John
Centre midfield
O'keefe
Ralls
Gunnarsson
Whitts
Dikgacoi (if he stays)
2 free roamers behind striker
Immers
Pilkington
Striker
Fred
Zohore
We need strengthening in the front 2 positions, noone is an option from the bench for width and pace, as is Harris.
O'sullivan could maybe play in a free role also, but some creativity/pace is needed.
Finally a proven 20 goal striker wouldn't go amiss, as we need 3 strikers anyway and the 2 we have aren't proven.
Overall happy with the foundations of the squad especially in defensive areas and with a few signings think we could be a surprise

Yeah, I think Peltier would really work as one of the three centrebacks, at least till Morrison is fit. We need more goal-scoring options, both from midfield and up front.

Anyone else think this could be a new lease of life for Le Fondre in one of the 2 spots covered by Pilks and Immers ( if one gets injured or suspended) ?

Its great to find ourselves in the situation where we can potentially be very flexible in midfield, either using the the 5-3-2 / 5-3-1-1 because we have the workers in Ralls and Gunnar, the creative Whitts and O'Keefe and the impact players like Noone and Harris and then the fringe / young lads like Adeyemi and O'Sullivan.
I'm sure we'll get a better idea of PTs thinking over the next few games in Germany.

Agree, an attacking midfielder and striker are high in the list.
However getting a proven 20 goal a season striker in this league means going way beyond our means. Let's hope our scouting system finally gets a few right, it worked with immers
