Paul Trollope is set to leave Wales' coaching staff to concentrate on his role as Cardiff City's head coach.

Sunday 17th July 2016

Trollope succeeded Russell Slade as Bluebirds boss in May and has been working with Wales since July 2015.

He is expected to be replaced in the Welsh set-up by predecessor Kit Symons.

Having been Wales manager Chris Coleman's number two since 2012, Symons left in June 2015 to take charge of Fulham, but the 45-year-old was sacked six month later.

That paves the way for Symons to return to his international role with Coleman, his former Wales and Fulham centre-back partner.

Trollope was with Wales during their historic Euro 2016 campaign, helping his country reach a major tournament semi-final for the first time.

He had been juggling international duties with his club commitments, having joined Slade's coaching team at Cardiff in February 2015.

Slade was removed as manager of the Championship club at the end of last season and was initially given a new role as head of football, but lasted only 28 days in the job before leaving the club.

That allowed former Wales, Derby and Fulham midfielder Trollope to take the reins.

He will be assisted by ex-Cardiff boss Lennie Lawrence - who he worked with at Bristol Rovers - and James Rowberry, while Wales' head of performance Ryland Morgans has joined the Bluebirds as performance director.

It's the right thing to do and Trollope can look back on his contribution on the fantastic journey with Wales with pride. :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Cardiff were saying that he could do both, what makes you so sure they gave him that ultimatum?

being a club manager is a full time job, its simply not possible to have two roles, one of which is as manager. i refuse to believe a cardiff city board would not realise such a basic premise.

Trollope Steps Down From Welsh Role

Vital Cardiff City

Monday 18th July 2016

It's being reported that new head coach Paul Trollope will step down from his Welsh coaching commitments so he can fully concentrate on life at Cardiff City.

Having replaced Russell Slade as boss in May, he has been working with the Wales national side since last summer and of course played his part in helping them to a historic run to the semi finals of this summer's European Championships.

The BBC are reporting that he will be replaced in the Welsh set up by Chris Coleman's former number 2 Kit Symons, who originally quit to take on the Fulham job, prior to him being sacked last season.

There's no confirmation of this yet from the club, but juggling both roles was one thing when assistant to Slade, but trying to do both whilst manager in his own right would likely stretch him too far.

This is what was reported at the time.

Cardiff City want their new boss, Paul Trollope, to continue his coaching role with Wales, WalesOnline can reveal.

Trollope was appointed Head Coach of the Bluebirds at the end of last season, with former manger Russell Slade shunted upstairs and made Head of Football. Although Slade has now left the club and is being linked with the vacant manager’s post at League One Charlton.

Trollope will have complete control of first team matters at the Welsh capital club and has already been told his minimum target next season in the Championship will be to secure a play-off place.

Sources within the club say Trollope’s work with Wales can only improve him as a manager and coach. It is believed within the Bluebirds’ hierarchy that working with players like Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey will be beneficial for Trollope. They insist exposure to some of the top players and coaches in Europe this month could also help foster useful contacts.

Whilst your absolutely bang on that it was reported he could do both jobs bear in mind that the words:

'Wales Online reveal'

pretty much translate as:

'At least thats what we reckon - but to be honest half the time we're either just nicking it straight off the message boards or just making shit up to fill column inches. It's not our fault though - know one in the club even knows our names let alone feeds us inside info and most of us prefer rugby anyway. We miss Malky, at least he'd talk to us if we promised not to mention Cornelius and if we paid for lunch."
