There are reports today that Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho wants to land Joe Allen in a £20m deal. If that one were to come off, Allen would become the first player to directly cross the Anfield to Old Trafford divide since Allenby Chilton in November 1938.

But the iconic ex-Anfield defender insisted Liverpool must hold out for a sizeable transfer fee after Allen's stellar displays in Euro 2016 saw his stock soar.
The Wales ace, named in the Uefa's official team of the tournament, has run into the final 12 months of his Anfield contract and has yet to be offered a new deal by manager Jurgen Klopp.
Swansea City are amongst a glut of clubs keen to sign Allen, with Sevilla, Celtic, Stoke and West Ham also in the hunt.
