Cardiff City strikers Adam Le Fondre and Federico Macheda have been separated from the main squad during pre-season and both are linked with a move away from the club.
Adam Le Fondre and Federico Macheda are both training with the Under-21 Development team this summer ahead of their expected departure. Both players featured in a friendly fixture against Forest Green Rovers last night and they were the only two senior players involved.
Le Fondre and Macheda both played well during the Bluebirds’ 3-1 loss at The New Lawn with the latter scoring the opener. Cardiff made it clear last season that neither players were part of their plans with Le Fondre spending the season on loan at Wolves, and Macheda being loaned to Nottingham Forest when he returned from a long-term injury.
Federico Macheda has been heavily linked with a move away this summer with newly promoted Seria A club Pescara most recently linked. The Italian arrived at the Cardiff City Stadium in 2014 but his time in South Wales has been hampered by a series of injuries.
Former Reading front-man, Adam Le Fondre, will look back on his Cardiff career as a black mark with just three goals in 23 appearances. Le Fondre claimed to be homesick shortly after the departure of former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in January 2015, forcing a loan move to Bolton Wanderers.
Cardiff are reportedly keen to offload Le Fondre this summer but there is little news of interest for the 29-year-old who still has a year remaining on his contract.
Both strikers have endured a forgettable spell in South Wales and they will almost certainly be playing their football elsewhere this season.
