Cardiff City striker Federico Macheda has been linked with a move back to his home-country.


Federico Macheda looks set to return to Italy this summer with Serie A club Pescara reportedly interested. The 24-year-old has suffered a number of injury problems since joining the club in 2014 and his time at the Cardiff City Stadium seems to be up.

Reports claim newly promoted Serie A club Pescara are interested in signing Macheda, with their front-man Andrea Cocco looking set to depart this summer.

It’s also understood, Cardiff would welcome a bid for Macheda as Paul Trollope looks to raise money for his transfer budget ahead of this season.



The Italian striker made just eight appearances for the Bluebirds last season before joining Nottingham Forest on loan. Macheda made three appearances for Forest and ended the season without scoring a single goal.

Macheda impressed during his first season at the Cardiff City Stadium, scoring six league goals in 27 league games but again, injury would play a part in his season.

The former Manchester United wonder-kid has previously played in Serie A, during a loan spell with Sampdoria, adding to his experience with the national team, where he represented Italy from Under 16s to Under 21’s.
